Shirley M. Sorensen, 68, of Neenah, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, October 17, 2015. She was born on March 13, 1947, daughter of the late Edwin and Helen (Tipler) Zimmer.
Shirley graduated from Neenah High School, Class of 1965. After high school, she was very proud of her years of service as a bookkeeper for the Fox River Girl Scout Counsil. Shirley married the love of her life, Peter Sorensen, and together they shared almost 44 years of marriage. The most important thing to Shirley was her family, and making sure they were taken care of. She was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother and babysitter for over 30 children over the years. Shirley enjoyed going to Boulder Junction in the summers with her family and sitting in her yard on the swing with her beloved companion, Bernie. She enjoyed growing and selling asparagus with Peter. She will be truly missed.
Shirley is survived by her loving husband, Peter; children: Anita (Michael) Pemberton, Kimberlie (Joe) Clohessy, and Randy (Carrie) Sorensen; grandchildren: Ashley (Andy), Mandi (Zach), Violet (Jason), Patience, Jordan, and Anthony; great grandchildren: Ryan, Julien, Noraleigh, and Owen; brother, Edwin Zimmer; sister-in-law, Janice (Bob) Williamsen; and many other special family members and friends.
Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 24, 2015, at the Westgor Funeral Home, 205 W. Doty Street, Neenah. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
