Owner & Funeral Director
Derek is a lifelong resident of Little Chute. He is a graduate of Kaukauna High School and Milwaukee Area Techical College where he majored in Mortuary Science. He has been employed by Verkuilen Funeral Home since 2009. On November 10, 2014, Derek purchased the funeral home from George and Ann Kessler. He is a member of St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, the Little Chute JC’s, the Kaukauna Elk's Club, and the Little Chute Volunteer Fire Department. In his free time Derek enjoys being active in the community, playing volleyball, softball, tennis, hunting, fishing and spending time with his family.

Karli joined the staff in March of 2022. She is a graduate
of Marquette University class of 2017 as well as Worsham College of Mortuary Science class of 2019. In her
free time when she is not serving families, Karli enjoys spending time with family and friends, along with her husband,
Erik, and their two huskies.

Eric is a lifelong Fox Valley resident and has been serving families in funeral service since 2012. Eric has always been passionate about giving back to the community and continues to do so as the assistant chairperson for the City of Appleton Parades Committee, chairperson and field commander of the Scarlet Guard American Legion Color Guard, member of the Sons of the American Legion Squadron 38, and life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary Unit 2778.

Lynn started working at Verkuilen-Van Deurzen Family Funeral Home in 2016. Lynn is married to Todd and together they raised their two children. Zach (Leah) and Kyle (Leah). She enjoys spending time with her family and friends. She is a proud Grandmother of her grandchildren Grayson, Shaelyn, Oliver and Levi.

Cheryl started working at Verkuilen-Van Deurzen Family Funeral Home in March of 2015 as an office assistant. Cheryl is married to John Golden and together they raised their two children, Kristina (Brandon) and Matt (Casey), in Little Chute. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends. She is a proud Grandmother of Bronson, Asher, Kade, Mara, Elina and Riley.

Linda is in charge of keeping the interiors of the funeral home facilities in tip top shape at all times. She also assists with office duties. Linda is a lifelong resident of Appleton, and joined the staff in August of 2018. She is a proud mother and grandmother! Spending time with family is the most important thing for Linda. She also enjoys her kitties,baking, and reading.
Office Assistant
Stacy has worked in funeral service since 2012. She was born and raised in Appleton; graduated from Appleton North High School and later from Fox Valley Technical College. Stacy is married to Chad, and they have one son, Chase. Together, they enjoy attending sporting events, going camping and spending time with their family and friends.

Tom is a lifelong Fox Valley resident and native of Kimberly. He and his wife Rhonda live in Grand Chute. Tom assists our great staff of funeral directors during funeral and memorial services by making sure that no details are overlooked and that the families we serve are given the care, empathy and concern that they deserve at one of life’s most difficult times. Tom has spent more than 25 years working in the once thriving paper industry of the Fox Valley, and for the last ten years he has been on staff at the church where Rhonda still works full-time. Tom and Rhonda love to travel, and road trips to Florida and Virginia are their specialty.

Jon Miller received his Apprentice Funeral Director license and joined our team in 2024. After a 25-year career as a firefighter/paramedic, 20 years in the U.S. Air Force and serving as an Outagamie County Deputy Corner, Jon is happy to extend his care and compassion to the families and staff he supports. He & his wife Chris are long time residents of the Fox Valley and are thankful to have raised their 3 sons here. They enjoy movies, traveling, and spending time with friends and family, and they are especially loving their new roles as Grandma & Grandpa!!

Beth is a lifelong resident of Little Chute. In addition to having her own hair studio, she has been sharing her talents with grieving families for many years. Beth and her husband Randy are proud parents of two sons and a daughter, and grandparents to two girls and two boys. In Beth's free time she enjoys gardening, kayaking, biking and spending time with family and friends.

Lori and her husband Jeff are lifelong Little Chute residents, and have two children (Heather and Cody) and five grandchildren (Hunter, Brooke, Maci, Eleanor, and Charlie). She operates her own hair service business catering to the elderly and homebound throughout the Fox Valley. Lori and her family love spending time together vacationing on a lake in northern Wisconsin.
Licensed Life Insurance Agent
Dennis is a resident of Freedom and has worked in the insurance industry for 30 plus years. He has been married to his wife Vicki for 48 years and has 4 children and 9 grandchildren. He has been a member of St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church since birth. His hobbies include playing cards, golfing, downhill skiing and chasing grandkids. Dennis assists at the funeral home in the pre-funding of funeral insurance plans.
Retired Funeral Assistant
Wayne "Boots" Marquardt grew up in Little Chute and graduated from St. John High School. He then enlisted in the Air Force, serving during the Vietnam War. After discharge, Boots worked in the electrical wholesaling field as outside sales for 30 years, retiring in 2001. He as been married to Linda for 42 years. They have 3 children and 7 grandchildren. Boots is a member of St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, the Jacob Coppus American Legion Post 258, Little Chute Kiwanis Club and the Knights of Columbus. Boots enjoys volunteering his time helping these service clubs and spending time up north.
