My dad, Robert Mitchel, was one of Jimmy's best friends growing up in Whitefish Bay, WI. When Dad died in 1997, I got Jimmy to take over Dad's job of the long standing bet of $1 a game whenever the SF 49ers played the Green Bay Packers. I sent him a lot more dollars than he ever sent me. When I didn't get a Christmas card in 2015, I wondered what happened, but didn't check until just now. He was a great letter writer and I totally get why Chester got the special mention. I will miss him. I feel like I know his family through his letters and I am glad to have corresponded with him for the last 15 years or so. If his family wants his letters, I have them. I even have some between him and my father - they corresponded monthly for years. My condolences - he was a terrific guy.

Dear Chick and Family, Ed and I are unable to get to the service for Coach, but want to send our sympathy and let you know we share your loss. Ed was influenced greatly by Jim, as we know so many others were. Your family and faith will help during this sad time, but we know you are going to miss him keenly always. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Nirschl family, sorry to hear of the passing of your father/husband. Hopefully I will be able to make it to the visitation tonight but if not I wanted to post my condolences. I have not seen many of you in the last few years but I will always remember Jim or Mr. Nirschl from growing up next door.
