My father passed away during the early hours of Jan 19, 2021. Larry showed up at the house with another associate. Their care for my father was so touching & the quilt that covered him was the best. We cannot thank you enough for the care & respect you showed my father & our family as a whole. I've been to several funerals and you all were the absolute caring, loving professionals. Thank you so much for being the angels from heaven who cared for my father with the utmost respect & kindness.

I asked Derek when he started in this business why he chose this profession. He said he wanted to be able to do one last thing that was special for someone. And that is what Derek does. This is not a job to him it is truly a ministry both for him and his staff. He took care of both Mom and Dad when it was their time and I felt like comforted knowing they were in such caring hands.

My mom passed away April 4, 2020, during the time when Wisconsin was under the Safer at Home Order. Our family struggled with figuring out how we would possibly be able to give mom the farewell she wanted and deserved. We certainly made the right decision on working with Verkuilen Van Deurzen Family Funeral Home. Derek was tremendous to work with! Such an understanding and compassionate young man, helping us through not only the grief of losing mom, but finding ways to help our immediate family have the opportunity to say goodbye to mom while obeying the Safer at Home Order. Derek took care of every detail to make Mom’s goodbye perfect. He even streamed mom’s funeral through the funeral home Facebook page, allowing others to view the funeral who were unable to be there due to COVID-19. Uncle Tom will always be remembered by his family as a positive and fun person to be with...he always had a joke and enjoyed daily life in his home. Growing up I was honored to work at Thilmany Paper Mill with Tom as we always had laughter and joy with our daily tasks and work-activities. He was a marvelous family man and our thoughts and prayers go out to the immediate Coffey & Greenwood family and friends. God Bless Uncle Tom, we Love All the Great Memories. Our thoughts & prayers are with you, God Bless "TG" as Dad (Leon) called him.

Derek and his staff could not have been more caring, compassionate, and helpful during our time of grief. Everything was planned right through Derek, from the church, to flowers, music, and dinner. Derek took care of all those little details that we never would have thought of. We were never rushed and everything was explained in detail if we needed it. Top notch! The very best!! My husband Tom, passed away on August 10th. We had some of the funeral plans taken care of ahead of time, but had not yet picked out the place where we would have the memorial service. We decided on Verkuilen-Van Deurzen Family Funeral Home.

The service we received from beginning to end was outstanding. Derek and his staff took care of any phone calls that needed to be made as far as a Military Service, Deacon Vin, St. Joe’s Cemetery, etc. We all had enough on our minds, and their help with all of these things made a big difference.

All of our special requests were carried out without a flaw. The display of the urn with the flowers surrounding it, was beautiful. I would not have changed anything. Derek was also at the inurnment at St. Joe’s. A couple of weeks after the funeral he even came to the house to bring the shadow box for Tom’s flag and he took the time to place the flag inside. The care and compassion they showed will never be forgotten.

Thank you Derek and staff for making this difficult time much more bearable. I would never hesitate calling them if ever needed again. It was a pleasure working with you!
