Gary, Julie and Lexi:
Thinking of the entire VanCuyk family at this difficult time. Our thoughts and prayers are with you during your time of sorrow. What a terrible tragedy and serious loss to society. May God bless you and your family along with the Badgers.
Please remember the good times with Ethan, as those memories (contagious smile) will continue to be a light shining in the distance which we can all walk toward, with the hope and faith we will meet again. MAY HE REST IN PEACE with his volleyball and piano!
We pray he is now with all the loved ones who have gone on before and that they, again, enjoy each other's company in eternal love and life.

I am so truly sorry for your loss!! I don't even have any words to comfort you at this time. Ethan was a great and rising star! I remember him in my 5th grade class. Your words in the obituary expressed him well as I knew him then...quiet, gentle mannered, genuine. Some students reach your heart more than others. Ethan is one of those whom I have never forgotten. What a loss to our society! Know that I am thinking of you, even though I wasn't able to be there at the funeral home. Hugs and more hugs are surrrounding you from me. May God be with you during this very difficult time.

My heart goes out to the Van Cuyk family, a family that I have always respected greatly. I'm very proud to have known Ethan, and I will always have very fond memories of my time spent with him during his high school volleyball career.

I've had a number of emotions run through me these past few days. It's hard to know how to react to such a tragic event. However, after a couple of texts from some of Ethan's teammates, I find myself thinking very positively about our time together. I would talk a lot about our time on the Kaukauna volleyball team being one that they will always have to look back on with pride. Ethan exemplifies what any student athlete would want to be. I cannot imagine a more positive, hard-working, supportive player/teammate. Thank you for the memories, Ethan.

God bless Ethan and his family.

I have had the great pleasure to play volleyball with Ethan for the last 4 years. During that time we realized we had been on the court several times during his career at KHS. I was coaching at Middleton HS while he was a player. Always a great rivalry between the two schools. My deepest condolences your loss. He was such a great person. Keeping all of you in prayer.

I am saddened that I did not get the chance to meet Ethan as well as I could have. I'm sure all of us are. From the conversations Ethan and I had, I knew he was very genuine, kind-hearted, and loving life. He showed natural qualities of passion and was always wearing a smile and expressing a positive attitude. I knew this after the first time I met him. I remembered thinking to myself that Ethan possessed all the right qualities needed in this profession and that I was very excited to go through the next 3 years with him and even learn from his quiet leadership abilities through example.
I extend my deepest apologies. I know this happened suddenly, but I know through Ethan's personality and positive attitude that you possess the same and you will have the courage to pull through. I am hoping for the best, and I will never forget my interaction with Ethan.
