Welcome to the memorial page for

Mickey J. Zasoba

January 2, 2016

Micky J. Zasoba, Age 67, Appleton, passed away on Saturday, January 2, 2016 after a brief battle with cancer. Micky was born in Stanley, Wisconsin, son of the late Eldon Zasoba and Irene Tytor. Micky worked for the City of Appleton as a public bus driver for many years and later at Kolosso Toyota prior to his retirement.

For many years, Micky and his late wife Denise Vanderzanden, would escape to the great outdoors, exploring nature with bicycle rides, hiking, and winter snowshoeing. During their adventures, Micky would practice his love of photography, capturing the array of nature's beauty and the essence of life. He enjoyed taking photos while Denise would garden in their tranquil backyard filled with plants and flowers. Inside their quaint home, he would bake his delicious chocolate chip cookies while listening to his vast collection of American folk music. Later, when traveling was limited, Micky brought the great outdoors inside. Always admiring one of America's strongest transportation systems, he began to construct a miniature model train set. Micky believed in cities growing up and not out, avoiding the destruction of America's wonderful natural resources. "Where are we always going? Some place we never are?" —Micky Zasoba

Micky is survived by his brother Lance (Dawn) Walker and their daughters Stacy and Hollie; his sister Peggy (Greg) Burton and their daughter Justine and Justine's son Caeden; nephews Robby (Patty Miller) Zasoba and their children Zakaria, Shannon and Hailee; Dillon Zasoba; nieces Robin (Tom) Austreng and their children Amanda, Nicole, Danielle, Anthony; Natasha Zasoba and her son Bryce Goebel; Naomi Zasoba and her daughters Sage Zasoba and Sierra Retzke. He is further survived by close friends Tom and Ann Norman, their daughter Maddie (his God-daughter) and other relatives and friends. Micky was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Denise, and his brother Dale. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Douglas Grant for his caring, compassion and friendship.
