Bill “Chilly” Allen, age 69, of Little Chute, passed away peacefully at his home after a short battle with cancer on Friday, November 18, 2016. He was born on September 19, 1947, in Bradford, Pennsylvania, son of the late William and Margarette (Chido) Allen. He was raised in Shawano, WI, and left home early to join the Army. Bill was very proud of his service from 1964-69. He was a medic during the Vietnam War. Bill was a former president of the Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 351.
Bill married Donna Knaack on December 27, 1967, and together have shared almost 49 years of marriage. He was an avid outdoorsman, especially enjoying hunting and fishing. Bill enjoyed time spent at the cottage on Loon Lake, and was always available to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it. Mostly, Bill adored his children and grandchildren. He was a wonderful father and “Papa” to his grandchildren.
Bill is survived by his loving wife, Donna; his children: Kelly (special friend, Brian) Hammen, Cory (Pauline) Allen, Barry (Laura) Allen, and Joseph (special friend, Mandy) Allen; grandchildren: Katie (Chris) Kuna, Jacob Hammen, Monica (special friend, Dan) Hammen, Emily Hammen, Justin (special friend, Mariah) Allen, Abigail Allen, Madeline Allen, Nathan Allen, Jack Allen, and Marley Allen; great grandchildren: C.J. Kuna and Saylor Allen; a brother, David (Wanda) Allen; brothers and sisters-in-law: Penny (Fred) Bartman, Jack (Ann) Knaack, and Donald “Butch” (Loralie) Knaack; an uncle, John (Janis) Allen; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Memorial services will be held at 12:00 noon on Friday, November 25, 2016, at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, 323 S. Pine Street, Little Chute, with Fr. Ron Belitz officiating. Friends may call at the church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Appleton. For online condolences, please visit www.verkuilenfh.com.
