Albert Henry Brown

April 11, 1934 ~ December 27, 2016 (age 82) 82 Years Old

Albert Henry Brown age 82 of Appleton passed away on December 27th, 2016 peacefully at home. Al was born April 11th, 1934 in Michigan to Martin and Anna (Schultz) Brown. He was later raised by foster parents Ernest and Myrtle Long of Bad Axe, Michigan. Al served for a total of 12 years in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War and the U.S. Naval Reserves. While at the Great Lakes Naval training station he met Audrey (Kunz) of Milwaukee. They began corresponding by letter while he served at sea. Al and Audrey married on April 22nd, 1955 and celebrated 61 years of marriage. Working for 45 years at Local 400 Plumbers and Steam Fitters for most of his career. Al was an avid reader making weekly trips to the library reading often 4 or 5 books each week. He enjoyed the outdoors fishing, hunting and woodworking and being a foster parent for 8 years sharing love to many children who came into their home. Al and Audrey built their last two homes which was quite an undertaking but brought them both great pride and joy. A Cordwood Log home was built in Wausaukee and they lived there until building their second home in Abrams. Dad was ‘jack of all trades’ and could help his son and daughters fix anything or help on their ‘projects’. He cherished his family and is survived by; his wife, one son and three daughters, Andy (Kari) Brown, April Fitzgerald, Amy Van Elzen, Ann (Randy) Remus, Foster sons Shawn (April) Kutzleb, Paul Smith and Dennis Satorius Sr. 10 grandchildren Brian (Cathy), Jessica (Greg), Amber (Ryan), Matthew (Heather), Matthew, Holly (Patrick), Rory (Denise), Natasha, Danielle (Nick), Luke, 16 great grandchildren, his sister Darlene Brown and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by: his parents, foster parents and foster brother and sister Alvin (Jean) Long, Elna Long, sister and brother in-law Barb (Leon) Flowers, Iva (Bob) Ruth, brother Fred Brown, mother and father-in-law Arnold (Alice) Kunz, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Alan (Judith) Kunz; and a great granddaughter, Katelyn Fitzgerald.

At Al’s request a Private Service for immediate family will take place on Saturday January 7th, 2017 followed by a Celebration Gathering from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Brian and Cathy Fitzgerald’ home N144 County Hwy M Hortonville, WI. In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established in Al’s name. Online condolences can be sent to www.verkuilenfh.com.
