Wesley “Wes” John Coleman

It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Wes Coleman, who departed this world on July 5, 2026. Wes passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving wife, Barb, and his cherished family of Alcoholics Anonymous members, at the age of 79.

Wes was born on February 8, 1947, in Detroit, Michigan. His journey through life was a testament to resilience, determination, and the power of love.

Educated by the school of hard knocks, Wes was driving trucks by the age of 16, a skill that would later define his career as a long-distance truck driver. Known for his quick wit and boyish charm, Wes was a man of wisdom and kindness, whose gruff exterior belied a heart full of love and empathy.

In 2008, Wes met the love of his life, Barb, and they were wed on December 31, 2011. Their union was a celebration of love and companionship, blessed with 14 years of marital bliss. Together, they navigated life's adventures with joy and laughter, embracing each day as a gift.

Wesley's passion for vehicles, from motorcycles to RVs, was rivaled only by his love for travel. He explored the highways and byways of the United States and ventured abroad, always with Barb by his side. Despite his travels, his heart remained anchored in his work with Alcoholics Anonymous. As one of the first and most prominent members of the Design for Living AA Group in Appleton, Wes dedicated his life to supporting others on their journey to recovery. His commitment was unwavering, ensuring that anyone willing to work an AA program had the opportunity to do so.

Wes leaves behind a legacy of love and service. He is survived by his beloved wife, Barb (Cech) Coleman, his stepchildren April (Cech) Kelly and Patrick, Jackie (Cech) Trihn and Tim, and Scott Cech and Heather. His memory will also be cherished by his grandchildren: Brianna Maloney, Desmond Coon, Kennedy Coon, Aria Cech, and Derek Cech, and his great-grandchild, Cairo Coon. His brother, James Swartz, and his extensive AA family will continue to honor his memory and the countless lives he touched.

A service celebrating Wesley's life will be held on July 10, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the Prince of Peace Church, located at 2330 E Calumet Street. A time of visitation will be held on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the church.  The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to all visitors, guests, volunteers, and the Prince of Peace Church for their support and compassion during this time.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Parkinson Foundation, in honor of Wesley's giving nature.

May God's peace and serenity envelop all who knew and loved Wes, granting them eternal grace and comfort in the days to come.
