Wayne Van Asten Obituary

Wayne L. Van Asten, age 71, passed away peacefully on June 24, 2021.  He was born on October 28, 1949, son of the late Martin and Josephine (Van Handel) Van Asten.

Wayne was the proud owner and operator of Grand Chute Auto for over 32 years. He loved the car business and the many relationships he formed over the years.  His children and several extended family members spent time working as his employees. Wayne’s true passion was spending time with and providing for his family.  He especially loved holidays when the extended family would get together at his home, grilling out, making ice cream sundaes, eating popcorn, and sharing stories.  Wayne’s favorite vacation spots were St. Germain, WI and Marco Island, FL.  He was an avid golfer and loved the Green Bay Packers.  He would never turn down an old fashioned and would praise the skills of whoever was willing to make him one!

Wayne is survived by his children: Angela (Brian) Veik, Katie (Craig) Gretzinger and Matthew Van Asten; six grandchildren: Korbin, Anna, Ella and Grayson Veik, Grace and Finn Gretzinger; siblings: Merlin Van Asten, Lois (Lloyd) Schuessler, Marvin (Mary) Van Asten, Carl (Sharon) Van Asten, Lyle Van Asten and Jack (Pauline) Van Asten; the mother of his children, Anne Van Asten; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Josephine Van Asten; sister, Dolores Mischler; and a sister-in-law, Janice Van Asten.
