With profound sadness we announce the passing of Ursula Marie Zwiers. She left us peacefully on March 17, 2023, surrounded by family. She was 88 years old.
Ursula was born and raised in Freedom, Wisconsin. She cherished her years in school and remained close to many of her classmates through annual class reunions.
She married her one-of-a-kind husband Jerry Zwiers, who spent the next 66 years adoring and spoiling her. Together, they built their lives around their family starting in Freedom, then in Minnesota for 22 years, before building their dream home and resettling back in Freedom. Ursula and Jerry made the best dancing duo and enjoyed every step of their journey together.
Ursula lived a full life as a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, friend, and homemaker. Family gatherings were numerous and always filled with plenty of food, drinks, laughter, and loud conversations. Her quick wit brought laughs to everyone in the room. She loved to sing and was known to break into song with even the slightest prompt. We grew up admiring her grace, style, work ethic, gentle support, and cheers of encouragement.
She enjoyed many hobbies including tennis, golf, bridge, cribbage, sheepshead, entertaining, gardening, baking, canning vegetables, shopping, and spoiling her grandchildren with unending offers of cookies, ice cream, and snacks.
Most of all she loved her family. She will be dearly missed and forever hold a special place in our hearts.
Ursula is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Jerry Zwiers; children: Scott (Diane) Zwiers, Lisa (Lee) Van Camp, Mary (Tom) Wisneski and Michelle (Pete) Leschisin; grandchildren: Jared (Tara) Zwiers, Ben Zwiers, Tyler (Hollie) Zwiers, Jamie (Jason) Hanuszczak, Craig (Nikki) Zwiers, Jason Zwiers, Eric (Stephanie) Zwiers, Trisha (Gunnar) Witthuhn, Matt (Danielle) Van Camp, Sarah Van Camp, Lyndsey (Randy) Wills, Jordan (Bridget) Wisneski, Jack Leschisin, Aaron Leschisin and Abby Leschisin; 21 great grandchildren; brother, Joe (Shirley) Geurts; brothers and sisters-in-law: Rita Geurts, Janice Zwiers, Irene Gerrits, Lawrence (Mary) Zwiers, Tony (Barb) Zwiers and Carly (Mary) Zwiers; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
