Troy Richard Landwehr, age 45, passed away on October 24, 2021, after a short battle against an infection. He was born on November 9, 1975. Troy attended grade school at St. John’s in Little Chute, and graduated from Xavier High School with the class of 1994. After high school, he went to the Milwaukee School of Art and Design where he attained his bachelor’s degree. Growing up, Troy was very active in the 4-H program, and then was a leader for many years.
Troy was a world class cheese carver. He has traveled the globe sharing his talents with countless people. He’s been on many national morning shows and late night television. Troy was hired throughout his career to do carvings for large companies such as Disney and Cheese It. He also loved carving for local events and gatherings and talking to anyone about cheese carving. He even holds several world records, one for the largest carved cheeseburger and the largest old fashion. Troy also owned the Kerrigan Brothers Winery in Freedom, WI. He was a wonderful host to the many people who came in to enjoy the winery. Troy enjoyed working with his family to provide a wonderful experience for his guests. One day, Alena Graff came into the winery and Troy fell in love. They were married on October 9, 2020 at St. John Catholic Church in Little Chute. Troy loved Alena so much and was so happy to call her his wife.
Troy is survived by his wife, Alena Landwehr; parents, Dick and Karin Landwehr; sister, Kim (Matt) Schuller; niece and nephews: Alexander, Benjamin and McKenzie; father and mother-in-law: Matthew and Donna Graff; brother-in-law, Brenden (fiancé, Elyse) Graff; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends. A few years back, Troy was happy to be able to find his birth father and stepmother and siblings. They are: birth father and stepmother, Bill (Sherry) Gronke; siblings and their families: Becky (Brandon) Kleinschmit, Susie (Corey) Slominski and Jacob (Melissa) Gronke.
Troy was preceded in death by his brother, Todd Landwehr; maternal grandparents, John and Gladys Ver Voort; paternal grandparents, Leonard and Petronella Landwehr; and a cousin, Jon Letter.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 29, 2021, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Verkuilen-Van Deurzen Family Funeral Home FREEDOM LOCATION, N3972 Columbia Ave., Freedom. Visitation will continue on Saturday, October 30, 2021, at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, 411 Vandenbroek Street, Little Chute, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass at 12:00 noon. Msgr.
