Thomas F. “Tom” Steinfeldt Sr., age 82, of Appleton, passed away at home on Easter Sunday, March 31, 2024, after a valiant battle against many heath issues. He was also born on Easter Sunday, April 13, 1941, son of the late Russell and Evelyn (Mach) Steinfeldt.
Tom grew up in Antigo and Kaukauna and then proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He has since been a member of the Kaukauna VFW and the Appleton American Legion Post #38. Tom was a very proud soldier and was honored to be able to go on the Old Glory Honor Flight.
Tom’s working career was mainly as a blender for Rich’s Bakery for 38 years. After that he drove bus at Kobussen Buses for another 18 years. He served as the business agents financial secretary for the BCTGM Local 340 for many years.
Tom had a passion for cars. He was a part of many organizations including: Nicolet Model A Club, Vintage Chevrolet Club, Waupaca Car Club, the Two Cylinder Club and a member of the Pierce Park Car Show Committee. Tom could talk cars all day long and had quite the collection of them. Including his newest classic that he had just purchased and wasn’t even able to drive yet.
Tom was also a proud husband, dad, grandpa and great grandpa. He loved his family dearly.
Tom is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Carolyn (Danzy) Steinfeldt; children: Tom Steinfeldt Jr., Craig (Stephanie) Steinfeldt, Jane (Todd) Christenson and Jennifer (Greg) Bliss; grandchildren: Max Steinfeldt, Alex Steinfeldt, Jarrod (fiancé, Kaylie) Christenson, Elijah (Hope) Christenson, Carolyn (Devin) Sumnicht, Noah Christenson, Matthew Bliss and Sophie Bliss; great grandchildren: Victoria, Vivian, Juliana, Elizabeth, Elena, LillyAna, Amara, Emily, Olivia and Inez; siblings: Eugene Steinfeldt, Danny Steinfeldt, Beth Knapp, Pat Hubert, Ellen Hegner, Lynn Long and Susan Monson; brother-in-law, Roger (Joan) Danzy; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Jerry (Susan) Steinfeldt and Scott Steinfeldt; father and mother-in-law, Ezra and Inez Danzy.
Visitation will be held on Friday, April 5, 2024, at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 1810 N. McDonald Street, Appleton, from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. A prayer service will conclude the evening. Visitation will continue at church again on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass at 10:30 a.m. Interment and full military honors will be at Riverside Cemetery, Appleton.
