Therese (Simon) Vanden Heuvel, age 97, of Little Chute, WI (and formerly of Darboy, WI), passed away on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at Living Tree Estates, Memory Care Unit, Greenville, WI.
Therese was the youngest child of Anton and Sophie Simon. Though she loved to travel some, she lived her entire life within 10 miles of Darboy, WI, where she was born.
Therese was married to Ivol Vanden Heuvel for 68 years. They are survived by their 7 children: Chris (Gary) Driessen, San Antonio, TX, Mary (Dennis) Arnoldussen, Freedom, WI, Joe Vanden Heuvel, Sherwood, WI, Karen (Jerry) Rohloff, Appleton, WI, Dennis (Lisa) Vanden Heuvel, Deerbrook, WI, Tim (Ana) Vanden Heuvel, Little Chute, WI, and Lynn (Joel) Biese-Carroll, Oconomowoc, WI; 14 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and a large extended family.
Therese was preceded in death by her husband, Ivol; 9 brothers and 2 sisters and all of their spouses; as well as 3 of Ivol’s siblings; and several in-laws; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Therese was always active in the Catholic Church, volunteering wherever she was needed, and she took her responsibilities for weekly visits to the sick, through the Befriender Program, until she was 92. She was clever at cards and quick with a smile. She did not mind the hard work of gardening and cooking and was generous with both, always insisting on a meal or dessert for anyone who stopped by. She was a Master Gardener and her yard was featured in the garden walk. She liked that she could drive a school bus and that she could teach boys to cook in 4-H. Mostly though, Therese was a simple, honest woman who liked being at home or visiting with family and friends.
A Funeral Mass for Therese will be held on Thursday, February 12, 2026 at 12:00 p.m. at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, 411 Vandenbroek St., Little Chute. Visitation will begin at the church starting at 10:00 a.m. and will continue until the time of the Mass. Therese will be laid to rest in St. John’s Cemetery.
