Terry Rebholz Obituary

Terry Michael Rebholz, age 77, passed away at his home surrounded by family after a year-long battle with cancer. He was born on June 9, 1943, son of the late Jack and Audrey (Wilson) Rebholz.

Terry was an amazing, selfless and loving family man who enjoyed spending time with all of his family. He loved walking, traveling to historical sites, tending his garden, watching the Brewers, Timber Rattlers, and Packers.

Terry started his career as an Assistant District Attorney in Waupaca County and after 2 years, transferred to work in Outagamie County for the next 34 years, working primarily in juvenile law until his retirement in 2008. He went above and beyond in his job and helped so many people. Terry was known as a social worker with a law degree, helping adolescents get on the right track and stay out of trouble in the legal system.

Prior to attending law school, Terry was an officer in the US Army, training soldiers to prepare them for chemical warfare during the Vietnam War. He originally wanted to be a teacher after he finished serving in the military but decided to go to law school after being assigned to a legal team while stationed at Fort Ord. He applied to and was accepted at the University of Wisconsin Law School.

Terry loved to volunteer and touched many lives through his work with: teaching CPR and First Aid courses for over 4 decades- often giving up his lunch breaks to re-certify county workers and school teachers; volunteering in 4H programs for almost 3 decades; coaching school students for speaking and mock trial competitions; mentoring youth and military veterans; serving meals at the homeless shelter; donating blood, platelets and plasma more than 200 times;  volunteering at the PAC and Attic Theater, and being an active member of the American Legion Post 258 working at events and many military funerals.

Terry also perfected the art of the "dad" joke, loved talking about the weather, and was a very engaged grandfather. He went out of his way to treat everyone he met with respect and dignity, listened to them, and often shared anecdotes about hardships in his own life in an effort to mentor others. He lived his life with honesty and integrity.

Terry is survived by his loving wife of almost 25 years, Jean (Evers) Rebholz; children: Michelle (Matt) Kuhn, Maria Rebholz and Michael Rebholz; step children: Sandy (Janet Dasilva) Weatherwax and Scott (Antoinette) Van Boxtel; grandchildren: Everett, Avery, Samantha, Jacob, Jenna, Brett, Keith and Antonio; brothers: Ken, Richard (Cheryl) and Scott (Janet) Rebholz; sister, Marianne Danzeisen; brothers-in-law: Mike (Joyce) Evers, Bill (Carol) Evers, Jay (Val) Evers, Kevin (Lorie) Evers, Chris (Mary) Evers; Special Friend: David Prosser;  numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many close friends.

Terry was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Audrey Rebholz; in-laws Ray and Del Evers; Sister-in-law Barb Rebholz and brother-in-law: Roger Danzeisen.
