Steven K. Huisman, age 63 of Stockbridge, passed away on January 27, 2025 after a 7 1/2 month battle with Stage 4 colon cancer. Steve was born on September 8th, 1961 to Nicholas Huisman and Janice Huisman. Steve was employed by the Kimberly Paper Mill for 28 years until its closing in 2008. He also worked for UWO in the boiler plant and worked with his son Eric on his garage door business, which he loved.
Steve had a huge generous golden heart. He was the first to help numerous people who were down on their luck. Steve loved life and made many life long friends.
Survivors include his other half, Michelle (Missy) Huisman; two sons: Matthew Huisman and special friend Viranda and Eric Huisman; sisters: Joann and Robert Stine, Karen and Pat Krepline; brothers: William and Virginia Huisman, and Patrick Huisman; sisters-in-law: Marnie Mislinski and Jeanne Huisman; and numerous nieces and nephews; also, his three Labradors: Toki, Bella and Lucy. Steve was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Michael, James, Robert, and Donald Huisman; in-laws, Mark and Sheila Mislinski; brother-in-law, Mark Mislinski Jr.; and Missy’s very special Aunt Mary Steckbauer, whom he loved dearly.

Special thanks to our wonderful neighbors Greg and Michelle Libert and Mark and Kay Hartzheim for the visits, meals, hugs and friendship. Also huge thank you to Steve’s sister Karen for all of her help. Steve’s friend Kevin said to him, “Steve, it was an honor to be your friend.”
Steve did not want a funeral service. There will be a Celebration of Life at a later date.
