Stephen Michael Smith

Stephen M. Smith, 54, passed away on Monday, December 20, 2021.  Steve was born on July 13, 1967 to David P. and Marianne (Acker) Smith in Appleton.  On December 8, 2018 he was united in marriage to Mary Bloy. 

A family man with all the love in the world to give, Steve valued his time with relatives and friends alike. He had the uncanny ability to sit next to a total stranger and carry on a conversation for hours, with plenty of laughs and an infinite amount of bad "Dad jokes" at his disposal. Steve was an avid hunter and fisherman. With plenty of trophies over the years, what he valued most were the stories and friendships made during any of his outdoors activities. A true asset to his family and community, Steve had a passion for volunteering and serving others. Whether it was lending his trailer to a friend, or dedicating many days and nights to the Vandenbroek-Kaukauna fire department, Steve took great pride in the ability to help others. He had so much more to give, and so many more adventures to undertake. He is beloved by all that knew him. There are many others in this world with the name of Steve Smith, but no one can ever compare to our Steve/ Father/ Grandpa.

Steve is survived by his wife Mary Bloy Smith, daughters; Brianna “Bear” (significant other Mason Guild) Smith, Samantha (significant other Jacob Waldschmidt) Smith, Ashley (Adam) Linsmeyer, Nicole (Dan) Wilk, grandchildren; Brynn Linsmeyer, Gemma Linsmeyer, Kylie Wilk and Colton Wilk, his parents David and Marianne Smith, siblings; Aimee (Troy) Johnson, and Becky (Mark) Vande Hey, mother-in-law, Mary “Pat” Bloy, his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; Dennis (Barb) Bloy, Dick (Armella) Bloy, Don (Marilynn) Bloy, Debbie (Tim) Coffey, Dar (Joe) Gries and Jean (Chris) Lamers, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  Steve was preceded in death by a grandson Jace Linsmeyer and his father-in-law Ben Bloy. 

The funeral liturgy will be held on Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at HOLY CROSS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 309 Desnoyer St., Kaukauna.  A time of visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church and on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the mass at church.  For online condolences please visit www.verkuilenfh.com.  In lieu of flowers a memorial is being established in Steve’s name.
