Sharon “Sherry” Rose Schuh, age 78, of Freedom, WI passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on Wednesday, April 23, 2025. She was born May 8, 1946 in Green Bay, WI to the late Floyd and Catherine Jane Van Vreede.
Above everything, Sherry was OUR Mom and Gramma. She didn’t miss a game, concert, recital or performance. She loved her kids and grandkids immensely and it was evident in all she did! She also was a sister who would drop anything and everything to be there for her siblings and their families. Sherry was brought up in a way that family was everything and she instilled that in her own children. Holidays and family gatherings were what she lived for, as they brought all of her closest people together and were always done in the most beautiful and compassionate way. Her love of decorating her home, canning everything under the sun, cooking the most comforting foods (waffles, spaghetti, reubens, zuchinni bars/breads) and just her overwhelming amount of care for others showed everyone who she really was. Sherry was the kindest, most selfless person who welcomed everyone into her home and heart with open arms.
Sherry raised 5 children and made sure they were always loved well, creating the most amazing memories. Playing Kick-the-Can, Sardines, riding ATVs, fishing, sitting around the campfire under the string of lights always ended with the huge firework show put on by the boys at the annual Family Campout at the farm. Spending days in her mile-long vegetable and flower garden took up Sherry’s summers, where she and her gang would weed for hours in the scorching sun. Sherry drove school bus for Swinkles/Lamers for 35 years, where she loved her colleagues and was adored by the kids. She later worked as a teller at several different Capital Credit Union branches for 15 years, where she made lifelong friends. After retiring, Sherry enjoyed playing cards with some of her favorite people, chatting the day away with so many stories while losing track of time.
Sherry was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Catherine Jane Van Vreede and brother, Denny Van Vreede. She is survived by her children: Kirk (friend Kari) Schuh, Kent (Karen) Schuh, Kelly Hietpas, Kim (Sabatia) Le Flore and Kara (Jeremy) Snyder; grandchildren, Kyle (Elle) Schuh, Jacob (Brianna) Schuh, Cole (Fiancé Taylor) Hietpas, Tajah Hietpas, Taylor Schuh, Cayman (friend Kaylie) Schuh, Brooklyn Le Flore, Zariah Le Flore, Trinity Snyder and Hezekiah Jones; great-grandchildren Madelyn, Kinsley and Lainey Schuh; brothers Doug (Jodi) Van Vreede, Dean (Nancy) Van Vreede; sister Jill (Mike) Rickert and sister-in-law Chris Van Vreede; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A celebration of Sherry’s life will be conducted at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, W2037 County Rd. S, Freedom, on Wednesday, April 30, 2025 at 12:00 p.m. The family will receive friends from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m., with a Funeral Service to follow at 12:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established in her name.
