Russell P. Litscher, 62, passed away on Thursday, November 2, 2023 surrounded by his family at home after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Russ was born on March 17, 1961 to Clarence and Geane (Luedtke) Litscher Jr., in Appleton. After 10 years of dating, finally, on April 20th, 1991 he was united in marriage to Roseann (Rony) Kappell. Russ was employed at Pierce Manufacturing for 30 years, most recently, as a Systems Designer. Russ enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and doing many outdoor activities, including adventurous motorcycle rides, snowmobiling, boating, riding his UTVs, driving the Green Flash, and going up north to the cottage which he considered his second home. Russ liked staying busy and was always working on projects at home and at the cottage especially “putzing” in the garage. For many years he enjoyed his Tuesday nights shooting in a pool league. Most of all, spending time with his family was the most important thing to him.
Russ is survived by his wife Rony, children; Chad (fiancée Kayla Sprangers) Litscher, Kaylie (Evan) Dux, a granddaughter on the way, a brother Jim (Kathy) Litscher, brothers-in-law; Doug Van Dyn Hoven and Ray Kappell, nieces and nephews; Tim (Kat) Litscher, Tyler Litscher, Traci (Kyle) Balts, Nick Kappell and Lindsay (Jeff Hope) Kappell, among other relatives and friends. Russ was preceded in death by his parents, mother and father in-laws Rosemary and Robert Kappell, his sister Sherry Van Dyn Hoven, a brother-in-law Rich Kappell, sister-in-law Tracy Kappell and a nephew Tom Litscher.
Russ would like to send a special thank you to the many people who so graciously supported and encouraged him throughout his cancer battle. He would like to thank Dr. Chen, Amber Runnoe and all of the staff at ThedaCare Cancer Center for their continuous care and concern. Russ would also like to thank his numerous friends and family for the stream of meals, cards, texts, calls, visits and prayers which gave so much strength and comfort to both Russ and Rony. Also a special thank you to ThedaCare Medical Center nurses and ThedaCare at Home Hospice for their comforting care.
