Rosemary Holzschuh Obituary

Our spunky mother, the matriarch of our large family, Rosemary Theresa (Geiger) Holzschuh, passed away unexpectedly on April 1, 2026.  She was 88 years old.

Rosemary was born in Brillion, grew up on her family farm, graduated high school in 1955, and married our father (Rodney Holzschuh) in 1958.  She worked in the office at what is now Foremost Farms prior to starting a family.  Mom was a talented musician (piano, clarinet, dulcimer) and volunteered for decades sharing her musical talents at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Combined Locks, playing the organ and singing in the choir.  Mom was involved with a variety of charitable work for St. Paul’s parish.  In addition, mom would sit with patients at St. Paul’s Home in Kaukauna, who were on hospice and at the end of their lives.  Mom was a voracious reader, loved to garden, adored cats and all wildlife, playing Mahjong and fiddling with gadgets.  For the past few years, mom attended events at her retirement community, Nicolet Highlands, where she made many new friends and was happy in her apartment there after dad’s passing. But above all, our mother loved her family and truly dedicated her life to all of us and our father.

Rosemary is survived by her children: Nancy (Kerry) Westervelt, Maryland, Linda (Dennis) Groves, Green Bay, Sharon (Simon) Neicheril, Texas, James (Cathy) Holzschuh, Appleton, John Holzschuh, Menasha, Joel Holzschuh, Kaukauna, And her beautiful grandchildren and great grandchildren: Jocelyn (Nick) Iannotti, Massachusetts, Cecily (Sean) Crawford, and their daughter, Kiera, Minnesota, Elena Groves, Illinois, Elliott Groves, Madison, Sofia (Jeremy) Anchondo, and their twin daughters, Noelle and Mira, Texas, Sam Neicheril (Briana), Texas, Maya Neicheril (Jake), Texas, Colton (Kaity) Holzschuh, and their children, Emery and Norah, Appleton, Claire Holzschuh (Mason), DePere, Hannah (Andrew) Miller, Colorado, Julia Holzschuh (Shayde), Madison.

Rosemary is further survived by her sister, Jean Drexler, Appleton; brother and sister-in-law, John and Joan Holzschuh, Brillion; much-loved niece, Tera (Steve) Holzschuh- Duvall and their son, August, Colorado; and treasured nephew, George (Abby) Holzschuh and their sons Roman, Thomas, and Aaron, of Kimberly.

Mom had many friends and other close relatives that she loved for so many years.  Our hearts go out to you as well, dear friends and extended family.  Your care and support has meant the world to our family during this difficult time.

Rosemary was preceded in death by her husband, Rodney, who passed away in 2023 following 65 years of marriage; parents, Emery and Rose (Schambureck) Geiger, in-laws, Roman and Bernita (Mueller) Holzschuh, granddaughter, Celine Groves, daughter-in-law, Leanette (Ratzman) Holzschuh, and brothers-in-law, Robert Drexler and George R. Holzschuh.

Always the rebel, our mother died in an unfortunate accident that has left all of us heart broken.  Mom, we love you and are thankful for everything you have done for all of us, collectively and individually.  Even when times were strained within our family, love healed and brought us together.  You taught us that.  We were so proud of you in your transition into your new life following Dad’s death.  You were strong, a force, and will be missed immensely.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, 410 Wallace Street, Combined Locks.  A time of visitation will be held on  Saturday, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass at church.
