Ronald G. Semrow

Ronald Gerald Semrow, age 85, passed away peacefully on February, 21, 2025. Ron was born on October 28, 1939 to the late Emil and Hulda (Gutsche) Semrow. He graduated from Freedom High School in 1957.  Ron was united in marriage with Joan Rickert at St. Nicholas Catholic Church on October 19, 1960 and they celebrated 63 years of marriage before her passing on April 14, 2024. 

Ron was employed at R. Sabee Company for 40 years and then worked part time at his son’s business, DJ Video & Tanning, for 20 years. He was a member of the Army National Guard, 32nd Division and served as a medic at Fort Lewis in Washington during the Berlin Crisis. Ron was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church and served as an usher for many years.

Ron was a devoted husband, father and friend.  He loved classic country music, woodworking, along with feeding and watching the birds in the backyard. Ron enjoyed golfing with his friends and family as part of the Senior League at Irish Waters. He loved watching the Packers, Bucks and Badgers on TV and attended many Brewers games with his family. Ron looked forward to meeting his friends for breakfast at Mama D’s every week.

Ron is survived by his children: Darrell (Lori) Semrow, Debra (Jim) Peterson and Dennis J. Semrow; grandchildren: Sarah (Marty) Murphy, Stacy (Justin) Jacobs, Ian (Sarina) Peterson, Emily Peterson and Kelsey (Devon) Schumaker; great-grandchildren: Nora and Finn Murphy, Elle, Nate and Owen Jacobs, and baby Schumacher; sister Mildred Sievert, brothers-in-law: Ron Springstroh, Pat Rickert, Bill (Katie) Rickert, Dan (Joy) Rickert, Mike (Jill) Rickert; sisters-in-law: Judy Rickert, Kathy (Marv) Schiedermayer and Cindy (Mike) Ballweg along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. 

Ron was preceded in death by his loving wife, Joan; parents: Emil and Hulda Semrow; siblings: Erma (Victor) Buss, Harley (Germaine) (Selma) Semrow and Wilmer (Dolores) Semrow; brothers-in-law: Clarence Sievert, David Rickert, Gary Rickert; sisters-in-law: Marge Springstroh and Mary Rickert; parents-in-law: Joseph E. and Edna Rickert.

The funeral service for Ron will be held on Friday, February 28, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter Lutheran Church, N2740 French Rd., Appleton.  A time of visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service.  Interment will be in the Community Lutheran Cemetery immediately following the service.
