Ronald Franzen Obituary

Ronald N. Franzen passed away on November 21, 2022 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton.  Ronald was born on June 27, 1936 in Sheboygan, Wisconsin to the late Anton and Olive (Meyer) Franzen. 

Ron graduated from Sheboygan North High School Class of 1955.  He received a scholarship to attend the Milwaukee School of Engineering, where he graduated with an Associate in Applied Science degree in 1957, and a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering degree in 1960.  Ron then started his career as a Field Engineer for Allis Chalmers in West Allis, WI.  He traveled all over the country on projects in steel mills, coal mines, cement plants, and utilities.  After the Allis Chalmers plant in West Allis closed, Ron joined Square D in Milwaukee as a Project Engineer.  He retired in 1995. 

Ron married the love of his life, Leone “Lee” McDonough on September 24, 1964 at the Old St. Joseph Church in West DePere, WI.  They then moved to Greendale, WI.  They were member of St Alphonsus Church for 32 years.   During this time they enjoyed many wonderful trips together throughout the U.S.  They also enjoyed a vacation condo in Sherwood, WI., near High Cliff State Park.

After retirement Ron and Lee moved to Sherwood, Wisconsin.  Ron was a member of St. John/ Sacred Heart Catholic Parish.  He served on the parish council for six years.  He enjoyed golfing, boating, fishing, cooking, gardening, and music.  Ron also loved animals especially his cats.  Ron is survived by his loving wife Lee, niece Cathy Nordstrom, nephews, Steve and Randall Murray and many cousins.  Ron was preceded in death by his parents Anton and Olive Franzen, his sister Virginia, brother-in-law PatrickMurray, nephew Tom Murray, sister-in-law Janet McDonough, mother-in-law and father-in-law Priscilla and Richard McDonough.
