Roger "Snipe" "Fuzzy" Gerrits passed away on February 28, 2025, at his home in Little Chute, Wisconsin, at the age of 92. He lived a life marked by dedication, service, and a deep love for his family and friends.
Roger honorably served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1956. Following his military service, he married Irene Zwiers in 1957. He dedicated 39 and a half years to Miller Electric, retiring in 1994 as a proud member of the Miller Electric Quarter Century Club.
A passionate baseball player and coach, Roger played and managed the 1967 Little Chute State Championship Baseball Team, a memory he cherished deeply. He was also a proud member of the American Legion Post 258 in Little Chute.
Roger found joy in life’s simple pleasures—fishing, hunting, walking, baseball, playing cribbage, sharing laughter, and making memories with family and friends. His greatest happiness came from watching his great-grandchildren play the game he loved so dearly.
He is survived by his sister, Vernadine Welch; his children: Kathy Roovers (Kristin and Larry Dorn, Jason and Caitlin Roovers), Lynn and Ken Kurey (Amber and Darren Reiland, Amanda and Darby Evert), Sandy Locy (Jake and Kayla Locy, Allison and Matt VandenHogen, Vance and Hannah Lamers), Bill and Michele Gerrits (Tracy and Mike Wittmann, Willie Gerrits, Ivory Knutson, Emma Knutson, Ethan Knutson), and Ken Gerrits and fiancée Bobbi Jo Pettit; as well as 19 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Geraldine Gerrits; stepmother, Loretta Gerrits; siblings Audrey VanHandel (Earl), Elaine Evers (Donald), Germaine Werner (Jerome), Darlene Romenesko (Leroy), Clarice Islinger (Frank), Gene Gerrits (Lois), Don Gerrits (Lillian), Bob Gerrits (Millie); brother-in-law James Welch; and son-in-law Mark Roovers.
A celebration of Roger’s life will be held at Lake Park Pub & Grill, 8904 Lake Park Rd., Menasha, WI 54952, on Saturday, March 8, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. For online condolences, please visit www.verkuilenfh.com.
