Rodney Kust, age 81, of Wisconsin Rapids, passed away on December 16, 2025, at the House of the Dove in Marshfield, with his wife, Jackie Kust, by his side. Rodney was born on April 16, 1944, in Lena, Wisconsin to Edward and Emma Kust (Wotruba). He married his wife Jackie Kust on November 14, 1969. Rodney was known for his hard work throughout the years, beginning when he lived in Pound, Wisconsin, where he worked on the family farm. From there, he worked at the cheese factory in Two Creeks, Wisconsin, before being drafted into the Army from 1966 to 1968. After returning home, he began working at Consolidated Mill in Appleton, and in 1972 he was transferred to the Paperboard Products Mill in Wisconsin Rapids. Rodney retired in 2002 after 34 years of dedicated work.
Rodney is survived by his wife Jackie Kust. His Siblings: Roger Kust, and Barbara Burr. His In-laws: Jeanne (Charlie) Anderson, Carol Pidgeon, Sue Stein, Donna Van Asten, and Mary Jo (Joel) Sweetalla. Rodney is also survived by many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and three great-great-nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Emma Kust (Wotruba); his in-laws, James and Mary Stein; and brothers-in-law William Burr, Richard Stein, Donald Stein, Merle Van Asten, and James Pidgeon.
Memorial services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, January 2, 2026, at the Verkuilen-Van Deurzen Family Funeral Home Freedom Location, N3972 Columbia Ave., Freedom. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Burial will take place at a later date at Holy Cross Cemetery, Kaukauna.
