Robert K. “Bob” Roebke Age 85, of Kaukauna, passed away peacefully Monday, February 17, 2025, at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center-Neenah, five days following a motor vehicle accident coming home from a VFW meeting.
He was born March 23, 1939, in Wausau to Melvin and Aggie (Hendricks) Roebke. He was married to Suzanne M. Hett on Sept. 2, 1961, in Menasha.
He is survived by sons: Brian of Kaukauna and Jason (Ayako) of Chicago; daughter and best friend: Carrie (Hortonville); granddaughter: Yuria Roebke of Chicago; siblings: Gary (Carolyn), and Audrey Roebke.
He is also survived by in-laws: Karen (George) Korth, Dan (Cindy) Hett, Carl Hett, Sally (Tony) Steffen, and Becky (Larry) Auxier; 22 nieces and nephews including Godsons: Jesse Wagner and Austin Schwalenberg, and friends DuWayne Wolf and Nancy Godfroy.
He grew up in Wrightstown and was baptized and confirmed at St. John Ev. Lutheran Church, where he attended the final service in the church building in 2021 and the first service in the new church building in 2023.
Following graduating from Wrightstown High School with the Class of ’57, he served in the U.S. Navy on the USS Saratoga.
His favorite job was a furniture installer for Valley School Supply, where he met several Green Bay Packers players from the glory years, especially Bart Starr. He also worked as a delivery driver for Metal Products and in the lumber yard at Menard’s.
As someone who usually had a smile on his face (even when he told the nurse his pain was 9 out of 10), he had friends from all walks of life, including Rose Hill Bar and the Monday night dinner crew at 2 of a Kind in Dundas.
He was a member of Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church, VFW Post 3319, and volunteered at the 1000 Islands Environmental Center.
He was preceded in death by his wife: Suzanne (Hett) Roebke; daughter: Brenda (Nov. 14, 1983); parents-in-law: Leo and Rita Hett; sister-in-law: Debbie Wagner; brothers-in-law: Dave Wagner and Eugene Sweere; nephew: Shawn Hett; and friend Bob Grogan.
Visitation is Friday, Feb. 21, 2025, from noon to 2 p.m. at Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church, 804 Grignon St., Kaukauna, with his funeral service at 2 p.m. at the church. Burial to follow immediately at Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established for his church congregations in Wrightstown and Kaukauna.
The family thanks all the health care professionals who helped Bob during the past six months.
