Richard G. Nelson

Richard G. Nelson, 90, passed away on Friday, March 12, 2021.  Richard was born on July 31, 1930 to Levi and Lydia Nelson.  On September 29, 1951 he was united in marriage to Janet Bacon, together they loved Polka dancing.  Richard retired from Oshkosh Truck after working there for 24 years.  He enjoyed camping and hiking.  Richard was a woodworker and made many things throughout the years. 

Richard is survived by his wife of almost 70 years, Janet, his children; Jean (Jim) Simon, Robert (Diane) Nelson, six grandchildren; Tony (Cristy) Simon, Philip (Krystyn) Simon, Andrew (Andrea) Simon, Lucas (Stacy) Simon, Amber (Louis) Arceo and Brandon (Katie) Nelson, 17 great grandchildren, a sister, Mary Ann Hagaman, a sister-in-law, Phyl Nelson, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. 

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother Gary Nelson. 

A memorial service for Richard will be held on Tuesday, March 23, 2021 at 12:30 at VERKUILEN VAN DEURZEN FUNERAL HOME, 101 Canal St., Little Chute.  A time of visitation will be held on Tuesday from 11:00 AM until the time of the service at the funeral home.  Due to the current health pandemic please wear a mask and social distance.  Online condolences may be expressed at www.verkuilenfh.com.
