Peter Bloch Obituary

Peter Paul Bloch, 86, passed away peacefully at home on October 15, 2025. He was born on June 29, 1939, to the late John and Gertrude (Kilishek) Bloch of Kaukauna, where he lived most of his life. After graduating from Kaukauna High School in 1957, he proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps as a Field Radio Operator. On September 16, 1961, he married his “better half”, Darlene Reynebeau of Little Chute, WI. Together, they shared 65 wonderful years and raised their six children.

Peter was a lineman, then a technician for the telephone company. His natural curiosity and knack for building or fixing just about anything served him well. He retired at the young age of 53 and put his skills to good use, taking on countless projects for friends, family, and anyone who heard about his talents. Peter could figure out how to get any job done—and done right. He had a lifelong passion for gunsmithing, tools, and anything mechanical. His workshop was his happy place - a space filled with gadgets, parts, and projects that only he understood. He loved fixing, tinkering, and collecting anything he might “someday need.” Peter believed everything had a purpose waiting to be discovered, and with the right tool and enough patience, anything could be fixed.

Peter built a home for his family and, over the years, three family cottages, to ensure an outdoor escape and northwoods adventures. Weekends were spent hunting, fishing, swimming, and making lifelong memories. Peter liked to think of himself as a good hunter, though the stories (and lack of trophies) might suggest otherwise - and he passed that same love of the outdoors on to his children.

A man of deep faith, Peter also had a great sense of humor and a natural gift for conversation. He loved his golden retrievers and could often be found walking his dog, striking up conversations with neighbors, friends, and even strangers, remembering their stories for the next time he saw them. Quick with a one-liner and a laugh, Peter had a gift for making people feel seen. His warmth, wit, and easy conversation will be missed by all.

Peter is survived by his wife, Darlene; children Doug (Hope) Bloch of Crandon, Shelley (Paul) Scherer of Hortonville, Rob (Heather) Bloch of Combined Locks, Sarah (Jim) Velicer of Sherwood, and Paul (Amy) Bloch of Combined Locks; and daughter-in-law Chris Bloch of Shiocton; grandchildren, Eric (Rebecca) Scherer, Megan (Aaron) Curran, Emily (Josh) Cutting, Alex (Cory) Ottman, Olivia Bloch, Max Bloch, Roby Bloch, Sam Bloch, Lucy Velicer, Jack Bloch, Charlie Bloch, Will Velicer, Ava Bloch and Joey Bloch; and 5 great-grandchildren.

He is further survived by his sister Mary (Dan) Verstegen and in-laws, Hank Wildenberg, Donna Vosters, Bonnie (Bruce) Knapp, and Rocky Reynebeau.

He was preceded in death by his son, Jon Bloch; his parents, John and Gertrude Bloch; in-laws, Frank and Tilly Reynebeau; sisters, Agnes Romenesko, Theresa Wildenberg, and Beth Grosnick; and brother-in-law, Tom Vosters. Peter looked forward to reuniting with those who passed before him, especially his son, Jon, a joyful thought that broughthim peace in his final days.

The family extends a heartfelt thank you to Moments Hospice, especially Nurse Jen, Social Worker Emily, and Aide Megan, for their exceptional care, compassion, and humor that brightened even the hardest days. Peter looked forward to their visits—they understood his wit and met him with kindness. Their support brought much comfort to all.
