Penny A. Rohm

Penny Arlene Rohm, age 52, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Wednesday, August 2, 2023. She was born on September 8, 1970 to Kenneth and Bernice (Corey) Kerkhoff.

Penny grew up in Freedom and graduated from Freedom High School Class of 1988. She enjoyed going to happy hour, going on motorcycle rides with her boyfriend, Phil, and being with her family on Crooked Lake. One of Penny’s greatest passions in life was spending time with her family, especially her granddaughter Emerson, and her friends.

Penny is survived by her father, Ken Kerkhoff; her daughters: Miranda (Zach Acker) Backmann and Sara (Jordan Spindler) Rohm; her granddaughter, Emerson; her significant other of 11 years, Phil Gomm; siblings: Denise (John) Bast, Tina (Dan) Sabel, Kent (Kari) Kerkhoff, and Jim (Dawn) Kerkhoff. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Bernice Kerkhoff; her husband, Richard “Bud” Rohm; and her brothers: Kent Lee Kerkhoff and John “Jack” Kerkhoff.

A memorial service for Penny will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 12, 2023 at Verkuilen-Van Deurzen Family Funeral Home, N3972 Columbia Ave., Freedom.
