Patrick “Pat” D. Johnson passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on January 4, 2025. He was born on December 12, 1948, son of Donald R. and Mary June (Niesen) Johnson. When his mother died at an early age, his dad remarried and Pat was adopted by his step-mother, Mary Jane (Schreurs) Johnson.
Pat was raised in Kaukauna and graduated from Kaukauna High School in 1967. He entered the Army in 1968 and was stationed in Korea till 1970. Pat was employed at Miller Electric for 38 years. In 1974 he was united in marriage to Judy Luedtke and they raised three wonderful children in the Kaukauna area.
Pat was blessed with a certain sense of inventive creativity and mechanical dexterity. When something in the household broke, he tinkered with it till he devised a plan to fix it, often using materials on hand. Throughout his life, Pat enjoyed fishing, hunting and an occasional trip to the casino. His favorite activity was going to the cottage where he enjoyed the peace and serenity of the lake. He genuinely treasured the happy times spent there with family and friends.
Patrick is survived by his wife of 50 years, Judy; children: Andy (Katie) Johnson, Chad (Angie) Johnson and Rebecca Johnson; grandchildren: Kyle, Kara, Alaina and Grant; a sister-in-law Cheryl (Al) Mitchell; many other close relatives and friends.
Pat was preceded in death by his parents and step-mother; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Earl and Jeanette Luedtke; and several relatives from the Johnson – Niesen – Schreurs families.
The funeral service will be held on Friday, January 17, 2025 at 12:00 p.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 309 Desnoyer St., Kaukauna. Visitation will be held on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the church.
The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Paul Russo, Nina and Emily from Moments Hospice, and Cheryl and Al Mitchell for their loving care and compassion during Pat’s difficult days.
Special thanks also to the Little Chute Fire Department paramedics for their assistance during a stressful time.
Judy wishes to express sincere gratitude to all of Pat’s “phone buddies” whom he talked with frequently just to catch up on life’s happenings. Those calls did so much to lift his spirits and help him tolerate his medical challenges.
In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated in Patrick’s memory. The family intends to contribute a memorial fund to an organization near the cottage where Pat loved to spend time.
Patrick: Your love and the beautiful memories we shared will be my support whenever I am feeling down. Enjoy heaven with our dear relatives and friends who are already there. I will miss you every minute. Rest in peace, my love. Judy
Thanks for all the life lessons, Dad. We know you were happiest at the lake fishing, hunting and having family all together. We’ll keep an eye on the cottage you always loved, and keep the fire stoked. Rest in peace, Dad. We miss you already. Love, Andy, Chad and Becky
