Patrick F. Geenen, known to most as Pat, and to some as “Magee”, was born on June 19th, 1948, and passed away at the age of 77 on December 31, 2025, surrounded by his family after a hard-fought battle with cancer. Pat left this world on New Year's Eve, a fitting farewell that reflected his lively spirit.
Pat was one of a kind. No one can replicate his quick and witty responses and matter-of-fact ways. Rules often did not apply to him, and he did things his way, with a Pepsi in his hand. Pat loved sports, hunting, fishing, racing and spending time up north. He was always the first to give his furry friends table food. His presence brought countless laughs, and he was a true friend to many who continually showed up for him throughout his battle with cancer. He was known for his stubborn determination. He stood firm in his values and refused to give up. This carried him through life's challenges and made him someone his family and friends could rely on. Beneath the tough exterior, Pat had a truly kind heart. He showed love through actions; always showing up, helping out, and being there when it mattered. He devoted his life to family and friends. He took pride in being a dad, a grandpa, and a great-grandpa. He taught his family the importance of hard work, resilience, and loyalty - lessons that will live on through generations.
He is survived by his son, Bob (Terri) Geenen, and daughter, Jill (Lance) Vandenberg; his grandchildren: Austin (Alyssa) Geenen, Bailee Vandenberg, Madison (Phil) Grelecki, Bryce Vandenberg, and Brooke Maki-Gustavus; great-grandchildren: Everett Maki-Gustavus and Casen Geenen. He is further survived by his siblings: Darlene Swinkles, JoAnn Vandenberg, Rose Beyer, and Mike (Karen) Geenen, his brother-in-law Kemo Baptist Stevens, and the mother of his children, Patty Geenen. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and great friends.
He was preceded in death by his sons: Rod and Greg Geenen, his parents: Gerald and Johanna (Sis) Geenen, his brother: Jerry (Patricia) Geenen, his sister: Judy Stevens, brother-in-laws: Lyle Swinkles, Mick Vandenberg; and nephews: Joey Geenen, Todd Geenen, and Scott Stevens. There will be no formal funeral services as requested by Pat.
Though Pat may no longer be with us, gifting the great-grandkids with Pepsi, his unwavering strength and stubborn spirit will continue to guide and support those who loved him. The “diaper babies” will continue to light up the sky with fireworks. Enjoy your beer with Jesus, Dad.
