Patricia A. Lappen, age 94, passed away on Friday, November 28, 2025, surrounded by her family at St. Paul Elder Services after a brave battle with Alzheimer's. Pat was born on March 17, 1931, to William Sr. and Marie (Mayer) Taylor in Wausau, WI. After graduating from Kaukauna High School, Pat went on to work at Thilmany’s in the “steno pool, and then at Beren’s Clothing store. While she was working at Beren’s Clothing Store in Kaukauna, she met her future husband, Glen Lappen, as she outfitted him for prom!!! On October 6, 1951, she married the love of her life, Glen Lappen, in Kaukauna. From that marriage came 4 children: Thomas Joseph (deceased) and his 2 daughters, Elizabeth Moore (Josh) and their daughter, Madison in North Carolina, and Rebecca, Appleton.
Twin Daughters: Kay (Michel) DeYoung, Appleton, and her 2 sons, Matthew Verhagen, Kaukauna, and Joshua Verhagen, Ontonagon, MI.
Karen (Dean) Sinclair, Jackson, WI, and their 2 daughters: Lieza Sinclair, Kaukauna, and Lauren (Dan) Smullen, Hartland, WI.
Son: Tim (Michelle) Lappen and their daughter, Chloe Lappen, Appleton
Great-grandchildren: Elijah and Nahla Sinclair, Twins: Faith and Will Evans, Audrey Evans, and Madison Moore.
Pat is further survived by her brother, William (Nikki) Taylor, Denver, CO, and sister Mary (Cal) Engerson, Mobile, AL.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Glen Lappen, son, Tom Lappen, brother, Dick Taylor, sister-in-law, Branca Taylor, brother and sister-in-law, Don and Mary Lappen, and her mother, Marie Taylor McGinnis.
Pat and Glen were founding members of St. Aloysius Parish in Kaukauna. Before that, they were members of St. Mary’s Church, Kaukauna. Pat cherished her small-town roots, and her daily journals reflected that. Guided by both her faith and the loving support of Glen, family was the center of Pat’s life. In later years, summers spent at the family cottage created lasting memories for her. She always enjoyed visits from children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
The funeral Celebration Mass for Pat will be held on Tuesday, December 16, 2025 , at 11:00 a.m. at St Katharine Drexel, St Mary Church, 119 W. 7th St., Kaukauna. Pat’s family would like to thank the staff at the St. Paul Elder Services, along with the Hospice Team, especially those in Poppy Path, for their excellent care, love, and concern shown during her stay. They treated Mom with dignity and compassion during the hardest battle of her life!! Thank you so much…you made a very difficult time so much easier for all of us. We will be forever grateful for easing her into her next journey of life!
