Norman Jerome Sengbusch, 97, went to be with God on Monday, January 21, 2024.  Norman was born August 25, 1926, to the late Hugo and Esther (Brugge) Sengbusch in Manitowoc.  He grew up in Denmark, becoming a farm hand and a mechanic. Norm served in the US Army Air Corps in WWII, spending time on Luzon Island, Philippines. He worked on rebuilding the runway strips with the help of prisoners who cooperated with him, as he treated them humanely.

He was a member of their Quarter Century Club.  Norman loved playing cribbage, especially on the day he had the perfect hand.  He enjoyed gardening, fishing, and vacationing around the states visiting relatives.   Over the decades, he volunteered at the Heckrodt Wetland Reserve; 1000 Islands Nature Center - especially making maple syrup; the Cub Scouts as a Cubmaster.  Norm was a proud 75-year member of the Denmark American Legion Post 363.  He enjoyed spending time with Maddy Nooyen his “Legion great granddaughter” along with her mom Debra.  As a member of the Denmark VFW Post 6705, he spent time with his Godson Bill Enz and great nephew Dan Enz.  Norman enjoyed being known as the “Candy Man” to many, even strangers as he felt joy in sharing a treat with people.

Norman will be sadly missed by his children: Cheryl (LeRoy) Johnson, Wayne (Mary Van De Hey) Sengbusch, Wendy (Don Mielke) Yingling, Scott (Kathy Bragg) Sengbusch.
