Neil E. Schmidt

Neil E. Schmidt, age 63, of Oneida passed away on Thursday, July 4, 2024 at Aurora Baycare Medical Center in Green Bay. He was born on October 4, 1960 in Kaukauna, son of the late Lawrence and Loretta (Ashauer) Schmidt.  He was engaged to be married next month to Jill M. Brocker. Neil was an over the road truck driver most recently with Midwest Carriers and for Van Groll Trucking before that. He was a dedicated, never miss a day kind of truck driver, his entire career. When he wasnt over the road, his free time was dedicated to his family and friends with them enjoying cars, motorcycle rides, fishing, hunting, stargazing, and his most favorite, spending time with them at his land in Crandon (his happy place). His time with his grandchildren and children were where he shined the brightest. Never missing a beat to those he loved and a father to many.  He will be missed deeply.

He is survived by his fiancée, Jill; his children: Randi Taft (Joe Arnold), Dalton (Shelby) Shimko, Christian (Breanne) Brocker, Heather (Lee) Brocker; grandchildren: Payton Brocker, Miles Brocker, Finnley K. Diedrick, Mack Neil Arnold, and due in September will be Hayden Parker; Cathleen Diedrick. His siblings: Ruth Lemke, Joan (Steve) Woldt, Paul (Debra) Schmidt, Rose Heegman, Godson Clint (Andrea) Woldt and their son Carter. In addition to his parents, he was preceded by three brothers: Mark, Earl, and Alan Schmidt. He passed surrounded by his loved ones. 

A Funeral Service for Neil will be held on Wednesday, July 10, 2024 at 7:00 p.m. at Kaukauna’s Verkuilen – Van Deurzen Family Funeral Home (2401 Fieldcrest Drive).  Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 4:00 p.m. until the hour of service.  In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established.

The family would like to thank the Oncology staff at Aurora Baycare, especially Dr. Gautam and Dr. Ilana Porzecanski, who’s insight was extremely helpful through his stay at the hospital.
