Natalia Van Stralen Obituary

Natalia A. Van Stralen, 87, passed away on Monday, May 3, 2021, in Appleton, Wisconsin, surrounded by her family. Natalia was born on December 1, 1933 in Puebla, Pue. Mexico. On May 29, 1955 she was united in marriage to William Van Stralen in Puebla, Pue. Mexico. Natalia and Bill settled in Combined Locks and started building a family. Natalia was the heart and soul of their happy, lively household of five - her humorous, genuine and inviting nature made their home a place of love, laughter and warmth.

In addition to devoting herself to her family, Natalia built a successful career as a Spanish teacher and translator.  She inspired love and mastery of the Spanish language in many students of all ages at Freedom High School, Wrightstown High School, Kaukauna High School and Fox Valley Technical College and was a translator at Shiocton High School in Wisconsin.

Family and friends alike were drawn to Natalia both for her love of life and cheerful attitude and for the thoughtful, selfless and sincere way in which she treated everyone. People also loved her food - she was a great cook and a wonderful hostess; tirelessly preparing dishes and taking care of her guests - she would not rest until everyone was comfortable and well-fed at her house. Natalia always saw the best in people, withheld all judgement and encouraged and supported everyone - from her family and friends to her students.

Spending time with and visiting with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were always very special to her, and the memory of all those happy moments will be forever cherished by her loved ones.

Natalia is survived by her husband William, three sons: William Jr. Van Stralen, Dr. Kenneth (Anja Robakowski) Van Stralen, John (Anita) Van Stralen; 10 grandchildren: Jessica (Robert), James, Sarah, Laura, William "Billy," Benedict, Noah, Natalia "Nicole" (Johnathon), Stephanie (Brian), and John David "Ryan;" four great grandchildren: Scarlett, Vivienne, Harrison, and Robert; as well as many other relatives and friends.

Honoring her wishes, her family held a private memorial service for her on Tuesday, May 4, 2021. Online condolences may be expressed at www.verkuilenfh.com
