Maureen M. Mullen, 80, passed away on February 1, 2026. Maureen was born on November 5, 1945 to Joseph and Lila (Krumdick) Mullen. She attended grade school at St. Bernard’s in Milwaukee, St. Clara’s Academy in Sinsinawa, Wisconsin, and Marquette University, taking courses in engineering and graduating with a degree in mathematics.
Maureen taught math in the public schools in Milwaukee, worked as a database developer at M&I Equipment Finance and then became a software developer at IBM. After retiring from IBM, she developed a new love as a volunteer at the Milwaukee Public Museum as a docent. Using her teaching skills, she was known to enthrall visitors, especially children, with her knowledge and love of ancient civilizations and the history of the universe in general. Additionally, she used her background in software development to assist Museum scientists in the task of creating a digital catalog of the Museum’s geological specimens. She often said how much she loved working at the Museum.
Maureen is survived by her sister Kathleen Chandler, brother Thomas (Jan), brother-in-law Philip Morris, nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. Maureen was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Mary Mullen Morris and brother-in-law Richard Chandler. She was admired by many, and cherished by her family.
A private service for Maureen will be held in Freedom, Wisconsin and her remains laid to rest near other family members at St. Nicholas Cemetery in Freedom. A memorial will also be held in Wauwatosa later in February.
