Matthew Wakeley, of Kaukauna, Wisconsin, was welcomed into eternal rest on March 24, 2026, where he was reunited with his beloved mother, Wanda Wakeley. He was born to Mark and Wanda Wakeley and lived a life marked by love, connection, and meaningful moments with those closest to him. Brother of: Annette Hinterthuer, Marie (Zack) Vandenwyngaard, Melissa Wakeley, and Michael Wakeley; uncle of: Aaron, Jake, Wyatt, Savannah, Bradley, Shawn, Lexi, Jordan, Caitlin, Madison, and Mikey.
In addition to his mother, Matt was preceded in death by his Grandma Shirley; other grandparents; aunts and uncles.
Though his time was brief, Matt lived fully and deeply. He had a special bond with his nieces and nephews, who brought him immense joy, and he cherished the companionship of his beloved cat, Smokey.
Matt had a passion for music and lived it to the fullest. He loved attending concerts, especially reggae and rock shows, often immersing himself in the experience as a devoted fan. He found joy in meeting artists, collecting autographs, and being part of the music community, he loved so much.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate medical teams at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center, Appleton, Wisconsin and the Transplant ICU at Froedtert Hospital, Milwaukee, Wisconsin for their dedicated care and for giving Matt the precious gift of time-time that allowed loved ones to gather, share memories, and say their goodbyes.
Matt will be remembered for his love, his spirit, and the way he connected with others through the things he was passionate about. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
A Celebration of Life for Matt will be held on Saturday, April 4, 2026 at the 10th Frame, 618 W. Wisconsin Ave., Appleton from 12:00 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. For online condolences, please visit www.verkuilenfh.com.
