Mary Ellen Hofacker

Mary Ellen Hofacker, age 77, was welcomed into the loving arms of Jesus on March 15, 2024. She was born on May 8, 1946, daughter of the late Raymond and Mary Stephani.

Mary Ellen worked as an administrative assistant at a few places early on, as well as taught Sunday School and was a member of the Christian Mothers. Her true passion was being a mom and a grandma. Her family was the center of her life and she loved them tremendously. Mary Ellen worked at Hofacker Hillside Orchard. There she made caramel apples, tasty treats, helped in the store and arranged field trips.  

Mary Ellen is survived by her children: Deacon Jeff (Laura) Hofacker and their children: Lathan and Rachel; Greg (Jodi) Hofacker and their children: Collin (fiancé, Olivia), Caden and Carson; Jenny (Andy) Stelow and their children: Lauren and Alyssa; daughter-in-law, Gail Hofacker and her children: Abby and Amanda; sisters: Cathy (Rich) Green and Ann (Rick) Weyenberg; sisters-in-law: Janice Stephani and Sally Stephani; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Mary Ellen was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Mary Stephani; a son, Dan Hofacker; granddaughter, Hope Hofacker; siblings: Mike Stephani, Frank Stephani, Rosanne Hofacker and Jim Stephani; and the father of her children, Paul Hofacker.

Memorial Services will be held at 12:00 noon on Monday, March 25, 2024, at St. Edward Catholic Church, N2926 Hwy 47, Mackville. Visitation will be at the church on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass. Burial will take place in the parish cemetery. For online condolences, please visit www.verkuilenfh.com.
