Mary “Fletcher” Buice, 77, passed away on Saturday, August 30, 2025. Fletcher was born on September 25, 1947, in Orlando, Florida. Her family later moved to Daytona Beach, where she enjoyed growing up by the ocean. She often spoke fondly of her days growing up on the beach and loved sharing stories from that time. After attending Seabreeze High School and Howey Academy, Fletcher was presented to society as a debutante, marking a special milestone in her early life and headed off to attend Wesleyan College in Macon, Georgia.
In the early 1970s, she moved to Wisconsin eventually settling to raise a family in the New Hope Township, located near Amherst, WI. She was well connected in the New Hope community and appreciated the wholesome nature that it had to offer. From hosting and participating in weekly neighborhood volleyball games hosted at her house or participating in the annual New Hope Firecracker Celebration (where she eventually was a parade judge) this community and the people held a special part in her heart.
In every interaction, Fletcher’s Southern charm, warmth, and hospitality shone through. She enjoyed her visits back to Florida with family and friends, where she loved reconnecting with the places and memories that shaped her. She had a special place in her heart for her little dogs, her flowers, bird watching, cheering on the Packers, and watching her kids/grandkids various sports and other events. Fletcher was always up for a board game, and no one could match her quick wit and trivia skills. She cherished her close friends sharing laughs, short trips, and years of unwavering support. More than anything, Fletcher was devoted to her children and grandchildren and the time they spent together will always be treasured.
Fletcher is survived by her sons; David (Jamie) Torrey, and Scott Torrey, grandchildren; Avery, Andew and Clayton Torrey, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, John A. and MaryAnn Buice, and a brother John Buice Jr.
