Marjorie "Margie" Vosters Obituary

Marjorie Lois Vosters “Margie” age 90 was called home to eternal life on the afternoon of March 26, 2026 at Thedacare Medical Center, Appleton.  Surrounded by family, she let it be known that she was “ready to go” in mind, body and spirit.  A few moments later, she passed peacefully into God’s loving hands.

Born on November 24, 1935 in Combined Locks, Margie was the second of six children (along with a twin sister) born to Henry and Ellen (Mitchler) VerHoeven. She graduated from Kimberly High School in 1954 and married the love of her life, Joseph W Vosters, on September 13, 1955 at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Combined Locks.  Together they built a home filled with love and raised two children.  They enjoyed 48 years together until Joe’s passing in March of 2004.

Margie was a member of St. Paul’s Parish in Combined Locks.  She was employed at several jobs throughout the years including Zwicker Knitting Mills, Weenies Bar and the Village Lanes.  She also cherished her role as a wife, mother and homemaker and kept a meticulous house that was always beautifully decorated on the holidays. In her younger days, she enjoyed knitting, crocheting, sewing and canning fresh vegetables from the garden she and Joe had grown.

Margie found joy in being around people in all kinds of settings.  She spent some of her early years following Joe’s softball team in local tournaments from town to town and cherished the lifelong friendships she made. She belonged to a  women’s bowling league on a team called “Weenies Chubs” and traveled to tournaments around the state.   Marge also loved going to Las Vegas with family and friends and often shared funny stories about the times they spent there on their 17 trips.  She enjoyed going up north to Shawano Lake and  later on up to Rolling Stone Lake, where she and Joe bought a mobile home and lived the “lake life” for 6 months out of the year for over 30 years.  There she enjoyed many beautiful sunsets, fishing, socializing with neighbors playing cards and dice and gambling at the resort’s bar and at the casino.  She and her sisters were well known at Mole Lake Casino where they were frequent fliers - referring to it as “going to work.” They even won a boat and got to appear in a TV commercial for the casino. Margie enjoyed sharing her love of the north woods with her kids and grandkids where many a happy time was had fishing, riding Grandpa’s 4 wheeler and doing the “shake of the day” and other fun shenanigans. She loved Friday Fish Fry, chocolate candy, cookies, cheesecake, pecan pie, going with family out to her favorite bars, and the Packers - especially when she had good numbers on the football boards.  Last, but not least, she enjoyed the companionship of her 4-legged best friend “Keno,” her beloved Shih Tzu, for 14 wonderful years until he passed in November 2024.

Margie is survived by a son:  Daniel J (Lori) Vosters, Kaukauna;  and a  daughter: Kathy A (Ken) VanGompel, Little Chute.

Her greatest pride and joy were her 6 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and 2 step great grandchildren:  Jesse Vosters;  Joshua (fiancé Brenda) Vosters and their children Autumn and Nolan Vosters and Alicia and Braden Wilber;  Laura (John) Webster and their children Connor and Chloe;  Nicholas (Lindsey) VanGompel and their children Blake and Peyton;  Jennifer (Tom) Nack and their children Ava and Beckett;  and Kelly (Jacob) Osterberg and their children Reese and Theodore.

Marge is also survived by:  Anne (Jim) Albrecht; Stanley Martin;  Sister Mary Vosters OP; Leo (Marge) Vosters; and Donna Vosters.
