Marjorie "Marge" Belongea Obituary

Marjorie Catherine “Marge” Belongea (Van Asten), Age 90, passed away Thursday, October 31, 2024.  Marge was born on July 19, 1934, in Little Chute, WI to Henry and Catherine Van Asten.  On July 22, 1952, she married her best friend, Ed Belongea, and were married for almost 62 years when Ed passed on July 14, 2014.  They were connected in spirit in the time between their passings.

Marge was a loving and accepting mom who helped support the family as a waitress which she loved. First at Tony Wonders, many years at Chef Bills and finally hanging up her apron at Marty’s.  In 1986 Marge began working at Younkers where she received awards for her customer service and made many new friends. She loved her final job bringing smiles to children as a Lunch Lady!

Marge and Ed leave behind their six children: Deb (Bob) Belongea, Dan Belongea, Cathy (Gary) Wereley, John (Patty) Belongea, Jane Belongea, and Carla (Brian) Barthel; sixteen grandchildren: Micah (fiancé Amanda) Agee, Sarah (Randy) Motl, Brent (Bri) Belongea, Kristy Eisenschink (Gordy Halsey), Jessica (Kyle) Nelson, Ashley Wereley, Rebecca Wereley (fiancé Harry), Michelle (Eugene) Van Lanen, Erica (BJ) Maxfield, Michael, Hannah and Spencer McGee, Kyle Barthel (Emily Haight), Alex, Jakob and Rachel Barthel; along with 11 great grandchildren: Gwen, Addison, Mathis, Leona, Miller, Dylan, Adelyn, Easton, Payten, Decklin, and Remy.

Marge is survived by her brother Gene (Marge) Van Asten, Donna Van Asten, Irene Van Asten, Jan Van Asten, Gene Diedrick, and further survived by Ed’s family: Myron Belongea, Marian Rife, Ruth Vanderloop, George Belongea, and May Rose Belongea.  Mom also leaves behind many family and friends, and special thanks to Jim and Marge Van Heuklon along with Carol Van Epren who visited Mom frequently.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her son David; family members: Robert (Pat) Van Asten, Millie (Bob) Bachmann, Marian (Larry) DuFrane, Floyd Van Asten, Lillian (Ed) Van Hueklon, Carl Van Asten, Rita Van Asten, Ila (Don) Roehrborn, Art Van Asten, Carol Diedrick; Ed’s family: Loyal (Dorothy) Belongea, Harold (Dorothy) Belongea, Jerome (Laverne) Belongea, Robert Belongea, Rita (Bob) Seering, Father David Belongea C.D.S., Joan (Richard) Lesselyoung, Richard Belongea,, Sylvia (Tom) Robertson, Ronald Belongea, Elaine Belongea Joseph Rife, Kenneth Vanderloop and Fran Belongea.

Marge will be remembered for her quick wit, hosting many family gatherings and her fun adventurous spirit.  She loved to travel with Ed to Canada for fishing trips and later in life, canoeing and camping trips with her daughters. She enjoyed the occasional trip to Oneida with anyone who was willing to go! Marge loved gardening and feeding the many birds and squirrels that would visit her deck. Her deck was her favorite place to be with a kitty on her lap, a “toddy” in her hand and the sun on her face. She will be sorely missed as she joins her Love, her Turtle Dove.
