Marie (Mickey) Miller, Kaukauna, formerly of Little Chute, age 94, passed away early Saturday morning September 20, 2025 at her home with family at her side. She arrived safely in the United States in her mother’s womb and was born in Little Chute on February 26, 1931 as another special blessing to her parents Martin and Hendricka Vande Burgt. She was married to Jerome F. Miller at St John’s Catholic Church in Little Chute on May 21,1949. Marie is survived by 11 of her 12 children; Linda (Lawrence) Mitchell, James (Sally) Miller, Peggy Haanen, Susan Rooyakkers, Vickie Miller (Rob Martzahl), Jan Vosters (Jeff Tabor), Mary (Rene) Petit, Margie Bartels (Kurt Meyer), Thomas (Julie) Miller, Karla (Scott) Paulan, Kim (Ben) Charles, 26 grandchildren, 50 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren, sisters; Theresa Eiting, Barb Steinberg, and a sister in law Rita Klingbiel. She has been preceded in death by her parents: Martin and Hendricka Vande Burgt, husband Jerome F Miller, his parents: Loretta Miller Wilkum, Alfred Miller and Clarence Wilkum, children: Terrance Miller, children’s spouses: Rosa Miller, William Haanen, Dennis Rooyakkers, grandchildren: Bret Rooyakkers, Miah VanderSteen, her siblings: Adriana, Dorothy, Margaret, Bertha, Regina, Martin, Elizabeth, Adrian, and spouses, brother and sister-in-laws: Herman, Alfred, Robert, Bernard, Earl, Edward, and spouses. Along with raising her 12 children Marie worked at Elm Tree Bakery and Appleton Supply Company. After retiring she volunteered at St. Vincent DePaul in Kaukauna, moved to Wild Rose for summers and wintered in Arizona for a period of time. Her “free time” activities were: fixing puzzles, playing cards, making Christmas candies, cookies and popcorn balls, crafting, quilting, knitting and crocheting, and vacationing at Pelican Lake.
The funeral for Marie will be held on Tuesday, September 30, 2025 at 5:00 p.m. at the Verkuilen Van Deuzen Family Funeral Home 2401 Fieldcrest Dr. Kaukauna. A time of visitation will be held on Tuesday from 3:00 until the time of the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers a family memorial fund is being established. The family would like to give a special thank you to Compassus Hospice for all the tender care they have given their mother, especially her primary care givers: Ashley, Karissa, and Mariana.
