Margie Sophia Vosters, 88, peacefully surrendered into God’s loving embrace on May 19, 2026 surrounded by the love of her family.

Margie was born on April 2, 1938, in Little Chute to Len and Ruth Vande Hey, the first of 11 children. She graduated from St. John’s High School and completed one year at St. Scholastica College. She married the Love of her Life, Leo Louis Vosters, on February 7, 1959, at St John Nepomucene Church. The love they shared, rooted in faith and mutual respect, remains a light for us all to live by.

Margie’s faith was her lifeline.  She truly lived her faith, as evident in the words others have used to describe her: gracious, affirming, encouraging, kind, grateful, charitable, welcoming, genuine, non-judgmental. She would share whatever she had, her lunch, her time, her gifts-of-self. Those she spoke with felt like they were the most important person in the room. Mom’s unconditional love for us, empowered us to go out into the world and do our best, without fear of failure. 

The spirit lead Margie and Leo to make a Cursillo in 1969, and they remained active in that program for many years after.  

Mom once said, “Ministry is my life. It is a vital part of my identity.” Her personal ministries included writing notes of inspiration, support, and gratitude; sharing roses from her garden; and gifting homemade desserts. In the words of Mother Teresa “she did little things with great love”. Margie also did “bigger” things with great love. Her public ministries included: leadership roles in Parish Council, Baptism Host Couples, and Social Concerns Committee. She was an active member of Call to Action, challenging Catholics to act for justice and build inclusive communities.

Margie was a strong advocate for expanding the role of women in the Catholic Church. In 1994 she was commissioned a Lay Minister through the Diocesan Ministry Leadership Program. This enabled her to cofound the Befriender Ministry program (now called Care Ministry), reaching out to those experiencing loneliness and transitional stress.

Margie had a passion for reading, writing, learning, growing, and bringing out the best in others. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren brought her endless joy.

Above all, Margie recognized the love and presence of God in all people and all creation.  

Margie leaves behind her cherished husband of 67 years, Leo; her siblings: Vince Vande Hey, Phyllis Werely (Dave), Mary Beschta (Jim), Bob Vande Hey (Jean), Gerald Vande Hey (Carol), Don Vande Hey (Mary Lou), Roy Vande Hey (Deb), Victoria Gossens (Dave), Terry Van Zeeland (Robin), and Rebecca Esparza (Hector); sister-in-law, Sr. Mary Vosters, OP.

Margie was preceded in death by sisters-in-law: Dianne Vande Hey (Gerald) and Valerie Vande Hey (Vince); niece, Heidi Vande Hey (Vince); nephew, Len Vande Hey (Bob); great nephew, Job Langer (Terry); great nephew, Willem Gossens (Victoria); as well as many members of the Vosters family.

Her spirit lives on in her children: Randy Vosters (Jane), Bobbie Vosters and Jill Vosters-Buser (Mike); her grandchildren: Christopher Vosters (Liz), Jennifer Vosters, Allison Greenwood, Micayla Buser, and Miranda Buser; and her great- grandchildren: Arlo and Alina Vosters, and Oliver Buser.

Her Celebration of Life Liturgy will be at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at St John Nepomucene Catholic Church, 411 Vandenbroek Street, Little Chute, with Fr. Ron Belitz officiating. Friends and family may visit at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass. Please check St. John’s website for livestream information: stjn.org  Please feel free to dress comfortably in colors that celebrate the light Margie saw in each of us. In lieu of flowers, the family will create a memorial commemorating the Spirit of Margie’s Life.

The family extends a heartfelt thank you to the care team at Unity Hospice, the amazing staff at St Paul Elder Services and the wonderful family and friends who have loved mom and supported us along this journey. 

Mom/Margie/Grandma, we love you.  Please continue “Cheering us on!!!”. This IS the day that the Lord has made!  Let us rejoice and be glad! Your Spirit lives forever!
