Margaret H. (Kroll) Peters

It is with deep sadness to acknowledge the passing of our much loved wife, mother, and grandmother Margaret Helen Peters.  Margaret, 85, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 17, 2022 due to bile duct cancer.  Margaret was born in Clintonville on October 18, 1936 to Henry and Viola (McClone) Kroll.  After high school she worked as a decoder for the Marine Corps Prison in Washington DC for a year.  On November 24, 1955 she was united in marriage to the handsome love of her life Alvin “Mike” Peters. While raising her children, Margaret taught piano lessons and religious education classes for many years. She was active in her church where she was head organist for over 40 years and president of the Christian Mothers Altar Society. After her children were grown, she worked for Oscar Boldt and WS Patterson until she retired. Margaret welcomed many visitors into their home and if you didn’t show up for a while, she’d let you know about it. She was known and loved for her sense of humor and Irish “sassiness”.  She also enjoyed nightly cocktails and cribbage with Mike, as well as golf, bowling, going out to dinner, and playing cards with her beloved friends. 

Margaret is survived by her husband Mike, children; Stephanie (Tim) Raatz, Paul (Debbie) Peters, Marcus Peters, Daphne (Boyd) Hartjes and Becky (Joe) DeGroot, grandchildren; Jeremy (Renee) Stevenson, Angie (Corey) Olson, Tammy (Todd) Krull, David Raatz, Nic (Kelly) Peters, Lindsay (Jimmy) Dritsas, Lake (Rachel) Peters, Nash (Julianna) Peters, Travis Peters, Trevor (Morgan) Hartjes, Leah DeGoey, Jenna (Drew) Keddell, Joe DeGroot, Steven (Brandy) DeGroot, and Sarah DeGroot, 23 great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, sisters; Joie Erdman and Connie (Rick) Marthaler, sisters-in-law; Mary Ann Kunschke and Patti Peters, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, brothers-in-law; Pudge Erdmann, Maynard Kunschke and Dan Peters. 

A celebration of life for Margaret will be held on Wednesday, June 22, 2022 at St. Paul Catholic Church, 410 Wallace St. Combined Locks.  A visitation will be held at the church on Wednesday from 9:30-11:30 a.m. with a funeral service to follow at 11:30.  Interment will be at St. Paul’s Cemetery.  Please visit www.verkuilenfh for online condolences.  The family would like to thank Danielle Vanevenhoven APNP, Amber and Robin from Theda Care Hospice, and the staff at Cherry Meadows and for their care and compassion during this difficult time.  In lieu flowers, Margaret’s wishes were to establish a memorial for Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin.
