Lyle Friebel Obituary

Lyle J Friebel, 87, peacefully went into God’s loving arms in the presence of his family on February 18, 2025 at Country Villa Assisted Living, Little Chute.  Lyle was born on August 30, 1937 in Little Chute, the son of George and Ann (Van Asten) Friebel.  Lyle was united in marriage June 3, 1963 to Marlene Van Nuland at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church.  He was employed 44 years at the Kimberly Paper Mill.

Lyle’s greatest joys were spending time with his family and friends camping and throughout many years had cottages at Legend Lake, Forest County and Mountain.  He also enjoyed country drives, Marlene’s old fashion cocktails and many campfires.  He enjoyed watching his Gunsmoke western movies, music and watching football.  He was known for his beautiful whistle, which is why we called him “the whistler.”  Lyle brought many people joy including his children and grandchildren and he will be dearly missed by many. His smile went straight to your heart. Even after any of his sassy moments where he would say, “What, I didn’t do it!”

Lyle is survived by his daughter Deana (Dan) Binder, Kaukauna, grandchildren: Stefanie Binder, Kaukauna, Michael Young, Antigo, Tiffany (Justin) Kraeger, Mosinee, Brandon (Krista) Friebel-Probst, Freedom, Paige Friebel, Suring, Tanner Friebel Stevens Point, Daughter-in-law; Mindi Friebel, brother; Merle Friebel, Gresham, brother-in-law; Ron Simpson along with 16 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, Lyle was preceded in death by his wife Marlene, son Brian Friebel, mother-in-law and father-in-law, a brother Eugene Friebel, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; Roseann (Ray) Toonen, Robert Van Nuland, Donna Van Nuland, Judy (Rich) Leffel, Donna Friebel, Elaine Simpson, nephew Jeff Friebel, niece Tracy Toonen.

In keeping with Lyle’s wishes, a private service was already held.  Inurnment will be in the St. John’s Catholic Cemetery in Little Chute on Tuesday, June 3, 2025 at 11:00 a.m.  For online condolences please visit www.verkuilenfh.com.  The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the entire staff of wonderful people at Country Villa Assisted Living in Little Chute, Moments Hospice, Verkuilen Van Deurzen Family Funeral Home, Fr Jim Vanden Hogen for the help and support during Lyle’s time of need.
