Louis Mischler Obituary

Louis Mischler Jr., 77, of Little Chute, was welcomed into his heavenly home on March 7, 2026 following heart complications. God gave him a loving embrace saying those words we all long to hear, “Well done, my good and faithful one. Welcome to the place where you belong.”

Louie was born and raised in Kaukauna to the late Louis and Irene (Spice) Mischler.  He graduated from Kaukauna High School in 1967 and went on to serve in the US Navy.  While on weekend leave, he met the love of his life strolling on the beach in Kenosha, WI.  They spent the year exchanging love letters and were married in May of 1971. Louie worked as a millwright at Appleton Coated Papers his entire career and retired in 2010.

Louie loved to hunt and fish and really enjoyed the time he got to spend up north with his friends at deer camp, enjoying an old fashion, (or two) telling stories, and talking life.  He was also the oracle for anything that needed fixing or any home project – he would say, “I’ve got something for that in the garage” and he’d come back with some sort of homemade jig that he whipped together to make your job easier! Sometimes a man of few words and other times he could be found making random friends everywhere he went because he was just a kind, genuine, salt-of-the-earth kind of guy.

In 2020, both Louie and Ellen were awarded with the Robert A. Nechodom Good Citizenship Award for volunteering within the community. Louie had a beautiful singing voice, and he joined his good friends in the choir at St. Johns Church where he and Ellen had been long-time members.

Louie will be missed dearly by his two children Bryan (Shayni) Mischler and Kim (Chad) Klitzke, along with his grandchildren: Raven, Keenan and Kennedy.  He is further survived by his dear friends Julie and Dave Hietpas. By his siblings: Marilyn (Don) Kavanaugh, Betty Mischler, Carol Thiele, Joyce (Phil) Bruecker and Paul Reichel, along with many special Van Dinter/Mischler nieces and nephews who he loved as his own.  He is further survived by his in-laws: Vicki Van Dinter, Jane Swanson, Rich (Jeanne) Van Dinter, Debbie Van Dinter and Rob (Robin) Van Dinter.  Waiting to greet in heaven, was his soul-mate Ellen.  His parents Louis, Irene and Agnes (Reichel) Mischler; his mother and father-in-law Robert and Ruth Van Dinter and Coonie and Marie VanDinter.  John and Jared Swanson, Chris Kline, Bob and Irene Mischler, Peter and Sara (Tess) Mischler, Helen and Joe Coppus, Ben Mischler, Erv Mischler, Delores Mischler, Roger Thiele and Catherine Reichel.

The Funeral Mass for Louie will be held on Monday, March 23, 2026 at 5:00 p.m. at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, 411 Vandenbroek St., Little Chute.  A time of visitation will be held on Monday from 3:00 p.m. until the time of the service at the church.  For online condolences please visit www.verkuilenfh.com.

We will close with words that Louie would have wanted us to share with all of you, from a song that he would sing to all of us when we were little:  I see the moon, the moon sees me. Down through the leaves of the old oak tree.  Please let the light that shines on me, shine on the ones I love ♥

For those who cannot join us in person due to the weather, you are able to view the service at St. John Nepomucene, Little Chute on You Tube.  The family will also be planning a celebration with the details forthcoming.
