Lorraine Gertrude (Freund) Kern

Lorraine Gertrude Kern, 100, Kaukauna, passed peacefully on December 16, 2020 at St. Paul Elder Services.  Lorraine was born on December 17, 1919 in Malone, Wisconsin to Frederick Freund and Amelia Andrew.  She married Joseph F. Kern on May 15, 1941.  Lorraine was a devout Catholic, avid gardener and very compassionate person.  She was a mother who always put her children first. 

She spent more than thirty years serving St. Mary’s (St. Katherine Drexel) parish through her work with the Altar Society, Saint Vincent de Paul and serving funeral dinners. 

Lorraine was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph. 

Lorraine is survived by her sons; Jerome (Carol) Kern, Dennis Kern, daughters; Sandra (Doug) Cyr, Mary Jean (Gary) Shiflet, and Michelle Kern (Don Darnell), nine grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. 

The family would like to thank St. Paul Elder Services for their excellent, compassionate care given our mother. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at 11:00 AM at ST. KATHERINE DREXEL, ST. MARY SITE, 119 W. Seventh St., Kaukauna.  A time of visitation will be held on Tuesday from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at the church.  The funeral will be livestreamed at the Verkuilen Van Deurzen Family Funeral Home facebook page.  Online condolences may be expressed at www.verkuilenfh.com.  In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to St. Paul Elder Services.
