Linda Schabo Obituary

Linda L. Schabo, 79, of Appleton, peacefully entered eternal life on July 12, 2024. Born in Little Chute on November 25, 1944, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Adreana (Jansen) Van Linn Sr.

She graduated from St. John's High School in Little Chute with the class of 1962. Linda dedicated many years of her life to the Presto Company in Appleton, where she had fond memories with a group known as the "Bouncing Babes."

On October 8, 1969, Linda married Norbert "Tom" Schabo in Appleton, and spent many happy years together.

Linda found immense joy in visiting the casino, drawn by the lights and sounds of the slot machines at any hour of the day or night. At the Camelot in Appleton, she and Tom would often gather with friends; while Tom played cribbage, Linda delighted in the company of her friend Wilma.

Linda truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures, chatting with friends and family, and playing with her nieces and nephews, as she was a big kid at heart. She thought of her sister Sandy's children and grandchildren as her own; she loved them that much! Known for her kind heart and spontaneous humor, Linda brightened lives with her candid remarks and quick wit. She was always ready to help others, performing acts of kindness without hesitation. When asked about her well-being, Linda often replied with her trademark humor, saying she was "fat and sassy."

She will be missed by her friends at Willow Lane where she has lived the past 4 years.  They will miss her warmth, friendly greetings leaving a lasting impact on her friends who will cherish her memory.

Linda's legacy is one of love, laughter, and kindness. She will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Linda is survived by her sister, Sandy Vande Hey (Wrightstown) and Sandy's children: Gina (John) Thousand, Edward (Trisha) Vande Hey, and Mike (Jamie) Vande Hey. She was a loving second grandmother to Adrianna and Evan Thousand, Ethan, Owen, and Abe Vande Hey, as well as Colt and Rory Vande Hey. Linda cherished her special bond with nieces: Nancy Biesterveld, Sharie Holezel, Julie Samida, and numerous other nieces and nephews. She is also survived by sister-in-law, Delaine Van Linn and Tom’s brother, George Jr. (Mary Lee) Schabo.

In addition to her parents and husband, Linda was preceded in death by her siblings: Glady (Joe) Biesterveld, Edward, William (Rita), Robert, John Van Linn, Elaine Honick, and Mary Jane Wendel, as well as brother-in-law, Gene Vande Hey.
