Leroy “Moose” Meyer, 95, passed away on Saturday, January 2, 2021. Moose was born on April 8, 1925 to George and Mary (Willms) Meyer in Milwaukee. He was a veteran having served in the US Navy. On November 6, 1964 he was united in marriage to Kaye Acker. Moose retired from Hydrite Chemical Company in 1987, having worked there for many years. He was an avid Brewer, Packer, Bucks and Badgers fan. Moose enjoyed playing cribbage and was an accomplished horseshoe player. He played at Jerry Kamps and was inducted into the Wisconsin State Horseshoe Hall of Fame. On his 93rd birthday Moose was honored as “Hero of the game” at Miller Park. He was very active in the area and had a weekly routine in retirement; Monday – Golf, Tuesday – Horseshoes, Wednesday – Cards, Thursday – sub for someone at cards, Friday – fish with Kaye. He was a member of St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church and Combined Locks VFW Post #10544.
Moose is survived by his wife Kaye, children; Carol (Barry) Berndsen, Joan (Jim) Moran, Ken (special friend Rachel Nelson) Meyer, Mark Meyer, grandchildren; Curtis, Erica, Brandy Rose, Brody Jon, and Anna, great grandson Carson, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings.
Visitation for Moose will be from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Friday, January 8, 2021 at ST JOHN MEPOMUCENE CATHOLIC CHURCH, 323 Pine St., Little Chute followed by the funeral liturgy at 11:00AM. The service will be livestreamed at the church website www.stjn.org. Online condolences may be expressed at www.verkuilenfh.com. In lieu of flowers a memorial is being established.
