Leroy Fries

Leroy Fries, age 88 passed away on Wednesday, September 3, 2025 at Prairie Homes in Menasha. He was born on June 14, 1937 in Black Creek, WI to the late Cyril and Isabelle (Stephani) Fries.

Leroy lived a life defined by hard work, devotion to family, and a deep appreciation for the outdoors. After proudly serving his country in the United States Army, he returned home with his little family to begin his career as a machine operator at Stora Enso paper mill in Kimberly, where he dedicated 40 years of skilled work and built friendships. For over 65 years, Leroy shared his life with his beloved wife, Judy (Van Toll). Together, they built a family and many memories at their favorite places; the cottage in Lakewood and the lake house on Lake Poygan. An avid outdoorsman, Leroy loved hunting, fishing, trap shooting, and golfing. Whether in the woods, on the water, or at the course, he found peace and purpose in the activities he loved most. He will be remembered for his steady nature, loyalty, and ability to find joy in both work and play.

Leroy is survived by his devoted wife, Judy Fries; children: Jill Schramm, Jody (Laurie) Fries; grandchildren: Jessica (Nevin) Lansing, Jake Schramm, and a step grandchild, Lindsey Jansen; great grandson, Parker Lansing; and brother, Ken (Mary) Fries. He was further preceded in death by his son-in- law, Jeff Schramm; siblings: Donald (Sharon) Fries and Joan (Dick) Williams.

Private family services will be held.
