Lane F. Foote, age 87, passed away in the loving arms of his wife at their home on Saturday, April 4, 2026. He was born on April 18, 1938, son of the late Earl Jr. and Frances (Lange) Foote. Lane married Shirley Pike on August 10, 1968, and together have shared over 57 years of blessed marriage.
Lane worked at Kimberly Clark for most of his working career. After retiring from there, he spent several years with Jim’s Painting before starting his official retirement. Lane enjoyed spending time at his cottage up north and traveling on the back roads. He could usually be found tinkering in his yard on a project, gardening or enjoying a sweet slice of his favorite apple pie. Lane and Shirley enjoyed traveling the world and experienced many amazing trips. They also welcomed 12 foreign exchange students through the years into their home. Lane had a good but dry sense of humor that will be deeply missed by his family, especially his beloved grandchildren.
Lane is survived by his loving wife Shirley; sons: Douglas (Daniela), Gary (Cheryl) and Gregory (Yongyi) Foote; grandchildren: Brian Foote, Jasmine (Dean) Adam, Maximillian Foote and Avery Foote; brothers: Dale (Dorothy) and Gerald (Rose) Foote; sisters-in-law: Eleanor Kreitman and Beverly Turpen; a brother-in-law, Richard Geiss; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Lane was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Frances Foote; father and mother-in-law: Fred and Grace Pike; brothers and sisters-in-law: Dorothy (Francis) Richardson, Delores (Fred) Hedtcke, Alfred (Jean) Pike, Frances (Harold) Steinbach, Eugene Kreitman, Norma (James) McPartland, Betty Geiss and Larry Turpen.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 10, 2026, at St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church, N2740 N. French Road, Freedom. Visitation will be at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. For online condolences, please visit www.verkuilenfh.com.
